Ms. Janjua's Grades 5-6 Art Class
April 6 - April 15, 2016 | Issue 12
Salaamu Alaykum!
We have started our new Unit of Inquiry, "Where We Are in Place & Time", and this Term in Art, we have our own specific Central Idea and Lines of Inquiry. This is an exciting change for our students! We started out by studying the beautiful names of Allah (SWT) - Al-Khaliq, Al-Baree and Al-Musawwir. Students chose a name and traced the calligraphy onto watercolor paper, using a new technique of blending to create a beautiful final painting.
Following this class, we were blessed to have a Master Calligrapher, Ustadh Khalid Pablo Casado visit us from Madrid, Spain to lead a workshop on the background and practice of Islamic Calligraphy! Students and teachers left inspired after his workshop and Alhamdulillah, and we are so grateful to Tarbiyah Academy for hosting this $500 workshop with our special guest, and for purchasing qalam's (Bamboo calligraphy writing tools) permanently for the Art Studio so we can keep practicing our Calligraphy!
It's been an exciting two weeks so we hope you enjoy our progress photos, and as always, please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any comments or concerns.
Thank you!
Wa Salaamu Alaykum,
Ms. Janjua
