- the water is cleaner because of the use of less chemicals
- environment friendly herbicides and fertilizers are used

- Double-cropping existing farmland
- Using seeds with improved genetics
India
- decreased the number of deaths from starvation
- improved the quality of life
- an increase in industrial growth created new jobs
- India became one of the world's biggest agricultural producers
