Scholastic Book Fair
Dear Parents-
Paola Middle School Library will be hosting Scholastic Book Fair March 1-8 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. If you would like to visit the book fair with your child but don't get off work in Paola until 4 p.m., please e-mail Mrs. Yerkes at least a day in advance to make arrangements, and Mrs. Yerkes will stay a little bit longer. Her e-mail is: anita_yerkes@usd368.org.
Scholastic Book Fair makes it convenient also for the working parent who is not able to visit between 8 and 4. You can use the safe e-wallet option that is accessible on the link below. Just make sure that you set up your child's e-wallet account by March 4. Thank you for supporting reading!

6th Grade Science
To wrap up their ocean unit, sixth graders created fictional sea creatures based on what they learned about the different environments located in the ocean layers. From the sunlit near-surface epipelagic zone to the intense pressure and darkness of the hadalpelagic zone, students researched real-life characteristics of animals already found in each zone to make up their own distinct animal. For instance, some creatures had the ability to bioluminescent if they were in one of the completely dark zones or the ability to change color to blend in with the coral reefs. They did a great job applying their creativity and recent discoveries of the ocean zones!
Dance Season Comes to a Close!
Shout out to the dancers from this year on an AMAZING season! They went through a lot and pulled off some outstanding performances. An extra shout out to Ruth Simons (Captain), Savannah Crawford (CoCaptain), Ella Koechner (Commander), and Kayla Hertel (Lieutenant) for their wonderful leadership this season, too.
