Wilder Elementary School
Parent Newsletter - May 2021
A Note from Mrs. Wiegandt
Greetings from Wilder Elementary School!
Special shout outs, this week, to our amazing Wilder teachers and staff. It is Teacher Appreciation Week and Wilder has the very best! PTO is providing awesome treats each day next week to honor our hardworking, kid-loving, learning-centered teachers and staff! Thank You!
We are planning some end of year activities--but all are with restrictions. On May 10, we will have a band and orchestra concert in the gym by invitation only to limit attendance. Choir and the 4th/5th grade program will be recorded and shared with families later in May. The 5th grade track meet is set for May 11 to include 5th Grade Distance learners. We are planning a 5th grade year end celebration, outside, the morning of May 25 with a back up date for May 26. More information will come to parents soon. Distance Learning teachers are prepping for a year end celebration for their classrooms--potentially "in person" after a year of connecting online. All of these are hopeful signs that we could be returning to some normalcy, but for all of these activities, masks and social distancing will remain the expectation--just as they are throughout out our remaining school days.
Summer School is being organized for August 2-August 20. Teachers will be referring students to attend. If you have questions, contact your child's teacher.
We had Kindergarten Roundup this week. It was great to see so many families that already have students at Wilder along with some new families that we are so happy to welcome!
Parents, I cannot thank you enough for your patience, understanding, cooperation and support throughout this pandemic year. You helped make it it possible, whether in school or through distance learning, to have your child educated in circumstances we could not anticipate. I'm very proud of what we have accomplished this school year and the credit is certainly shared with our tremendous Wilder families. Thank You!
Be safe and stay well!
Sincerely,
Leslie Wiegandt

Parents LEAD
It’s better to talk before children are exposed to alcohol and other drugs. If you talk to your kids directly and honestly, they are more likely to respect your rules and advice about alcohol and drug use. When parents talk with their children early and often about alcohol and other drugs, they can protect their children from many of the high-risk behaviors associated with using these drugs. How do I start the conversation? Visit www.parentslead.org.
