Happy New Year Mustangs!
I hope that you all were able to enjoy some downtime over the winter break. We are excited to be back in the building starting second semester! I can hardly believe that we have completed the first semester of the 2022-2023 school year and are beginning semester two. With a new semester brings new opportunities and we look forward to communicating with all future CHS events.
Sincerely,

STUDENT GOVERNMENT
Hey Mustangs! Welcome back and Happy New Year! On Friday, January 27th, Student Government is putting on its annual winter assembly. This year Student Government has decided to include a winter court. There will be 3 rounds of voting and winners will be announced during the assembly. Oh, and an assembly wouldn’t be an assembly without a spirit week. Check out rules and spirit days below!
Winter Court Rules and Links
This Winter Court is different from Homecoming and Prom Court. There are 5 categories that winners can be selected from (see descriptions below). There will be two winners per category, 1 boy and 1 girl, and winners can come from any grade. You will be given 5 different links to log into and vote. All CHS students are listed alphabetically by gender and if you’re looking for a certain person, you can hit (control F on a PC) or (command F on a Mac). Winners cannot win more than 1 category. There will be 3 rounds of voting (Top 10, 3, and 1 for each gender) and the winners will be announced during the assembly on 1/27. You will need to be logged into your ASD Google account in order to vote. Links will be available via Canvas as a Global Announcement. Happy Voting!

FILL YOUR FREEZER WITH FISH OR BERRIES? WORK IN LOGGING OR FISH PROCESSING?
Do you create opportunities for your family from Alaska’s natural bounty? For example, in the last few years did you do Commercial or Subsistence Fishing, Agriculture (Including Berry Picking), Logging (with a Logging Company), or Fish Processing (Cannery Work)?
Did that activity require you and your child (or your child over fourteen years of age who did the activities independent of you) to stay overnight away from your residence, were you outside the Anchorage School District (ASD) footprint, and was it an economic necessity for your family (meaning you need the income, harvest, or catch to meet your household’s most basic needs)?
If so, please contact Laura Fenoseff, the Migrant Education Student Success Coach at (907) 742-3135 or Fenoseff_Laura@asdk12.org. The Migrant Education Program provides services and resources to increase opportunities for children to participate in Anchorage’s educational community. Here are just a few of the services and resources available to eligible families:
Academic Coaching
Access to Educational Tools and Resources
Drop-Out Prevention
Homework Support
Literacy Events and Opportunities
Free Lunch Program
Scholarship Assistance
Student Advocacy
Referral for Social Services
Summer Intensives
Please share this information with any family living within the ASD boundaries who might meet these criteria, this program is intended for all children and their families.
