YOUR GUIDE TO HELPING YOUR STUDENTS STAY SAFE ONLINE
BRING OUT THE BEST IN YOUR CHILDREN ONLINE
Technology plays a growing role in the lives of students, particularly during this time in which their education is increasingly reliant on technology. While students are often quite adept at using tech tools, navigating the online world can sometimes be more complicated. All K-5 students will participate in hands-on instruction at the beginning of the school year to develop strong digital citizenship skills. The lessons, developed by Fulton County Schools in partnership with Common Sense Media, lay the groundwork for students to successfully use technology to enhance their learning and their lives as they grow older. The school-based instruction is just one component to developing good digital citizens. Parents and guardians are encouraged to play an active role in their student’s use of technology at home. Check out links below for resources on a variety of topics relevant to elementary school students.
ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY (K-5 STUDENTS)
Fulton County Schools maintains an Acceptable Use Policy that applies to not just use of physical devices, but use of the district's network and online platforms such as Office 365. Students reviewed this policy and signed it in school. We ask that all parents and guardians take a moment to review the policy with their students and note that this policy is still fully in place while whether learning is taking place in school or online The policy can be accessed by clicking on the link below.
DEVICE USER PLEDGE (3RD-5TH GRADE STUDENTS)
All 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades students are issued a laptop by Fulton County Schools. Expectations regarding care and use of the device are reviewed with students the first week of school and reinforced throughout the year. Failure to follow the FCS Device User Pledge, linked below, can result in disciplinary action and/or fines.
