Principal's Message
Brief Thanks!
Have a wonderful weekend and upcoming break. I will spare you from any corny principal messages about being grateful and thankful. However, I would like to share my own thanks and appreciation for the support and encouragement of our school community, especially the PTO. I would also like to share my thanks for the hard working staff and students. The students have worked extremely hard this first part of the year. I am so proud of them. That would not happen without the positive and productive collaboration of staff and families.
Have a great weekend and break,
Pete Kurty, Ed. D
Principal

GRE ANNOUNCEMENTS
Dublin Education Foundation
Dublin Education Foundation (DEF) is a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance to Dublin City Schools teachers, staff, and schools for innovative teaching projects and extracurricular activities to enrich and enhance students’ learning opportunities. You can find more information at the DEF website.
This fall, staff had the opportunity to donate money per paycheck to support grants. DEF now challenges the community to match the staff donations. See the flyer and opportunities to donate HERE. Or you can donate directly HERE.
Welcome Warehouse = One Dublin
Welcome Warehouse is now One Dublin. For nearly 15 years, Welcome Warehouse has been a resource for Dublin families in need. Our new name will not affect our current services; in fact, it gives us the flexibility to grow and adapt to the changing needs of our community.
GRE is again supporting a school wide community outreach partnership with One Dublin (Welcome Warehouse) for the Holiday season. The “Adopt A Family” program provides help for nearly 200 families who are in temporary need in the Dublin School System (referred by school guidance counselors). GRE will be adopting multiple families during this holiday season. All students will be wrapping them and will celebrate our community efforts at our Celebration of Giving ceremony on December 17th.

Winter Weather and Clothing
It’s not uncommon for students to not want to wear coats and pants in the winter. Unfortunately, it can be extremely cold and windy at GRE. We want them to stay safe and healthy. Please make sure your child leaves for school with outerwear appropriate for the day’s weather. If they refuse, you can tell them that the principal said so! Make a habit of checking the weather forecast and encouraging your child to wear a coat, hat, scarf and gloves on these colder days. Students are welcome to wear shorts while inside, but they MUST wear pants over them for recess during cold temperatures. Students must also bring out a jacket that is appropriate for the temperature.
20 degrees or below with wind chill - all recesses will be indoors
21-25 degrees with wind chill - lunch recess will be indoors, short recess will be outdoors
26 degrees with wind chill and warmer - all recesses will be outdoors
Lastly, it is a good reminder to put your child's name in their respective winter attire. A simple task of putting names in coats and on sweatshirts helps get them back to their owner.

Student Absence Notification - Important Info Regarding Robocall System Change
If your child will be absent from school, late to school, leaving early, or changing transportation, please notify the office in writing whenever possible. Email notification is the preferred and most effective way.
To notify the office of an absence, please email the attendance line at: gres_attendance@dublinschools.net
*NEW ROBOCALL PROCEDURE* Please note that all unexcused absences, including pre-arranged, will receive a system generated absence notification from DCS each day the student is absent. There is no need to respond to that notification unless our office has contacted you directly for clarification. We do appreciate advanced notification whenever possible to help us account for the safety of our students.
