Curriculum Night Information
Normally, this is a night when the school is filled will parents. Due to the large number of people who usually attend, it would be impossible for everyone to maintain safe social distances, and it is extremely important to us that all of our parents and staff members feel safe at all times. Because of this, we will hold our Curriculum Meetings in a virtual format this year.
All of the meetings will be held through Google Meet on Thursday, August 26th. Your child's teacher will let you know the time when she will hold the virtual meeting, and you will be sent the link so that you can join live if you are able. One of the good things about holding the meetings virtually is that all of the meetings will be recorded. The links to the recorded meetings will be sent out to parents and posted on our Northside website. If you are unable to join at the live time, you may click on the recorded link at any time to hear the information.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused us to do things a little differently than we have in the past so that we can try to keep everyone as safe and comfortable as possible. However, we want to assure you that we are doing our best to provide your children a school year that is as normal as possible while still taking measures to lessen the risk of exposure. Our teachers are always available to answer any questions you have about the classrooms, and these virtual meetings will be a great way to feel more connected to your child's school experience.
Title 1 Annual Meeting
Northside School Council
The A+ Education reform Act of 2000 for the state of Georgia required that school councils be established at every public school. These councils are policy-level advisory bodies to the Principal, Superintendent, and the local board of education. This council may advise and make recommendations on any matter related to school and student improvement. The purpose of school councils is to bring communities and schools closer together in a spirit of cooperation to solve difficult education problems, improve academic achievement, provide support for teachers and administrators, and bring parents into the school-based decision making process.
The council consists of the Principal, teachers, and parents or guardians of students. Members of the council must:
- Maintain a school-wide perspective on issues
- Regularly participate in council meetings
- Participate in information and training programs when needed
- Act as a link between the school council and the community
- Encourage the participation of parents and others within the school community
- Work to improve student achievement and performance
The school council members usually serve on the council for a 2 year term. If you are interested in serving our school in this way, please email Dr. Ballou at dana.ballou@cowetaschools.net.
