The Warren Arts and Education Foundation along with Missoula Children's Theatre would like to invite you to Creston Middle School on Saturday, February 9 for a performance of "King Arthur's Quest". Performances will be held at 3:00pm and 7:00pm.

Introducing our new Gallahue School Based Therapist

Welcome Ms. Kandace Kyere, our new School Based Therapist! For those of you whom have not yet had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Kandace, she is our new School-Based Therapist with Gallahue Mental Health Services through Community Health Network. Ms. Kandace received her bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, and then went on to obtain her master’s degree in Social Work from The University of Pittsburgh. She is passionate about seeing all students and their families reach their optimal social, emotional, mental, spiritual, and academic potential.

Ms. Kandace is at Creston Middle School full time: Monday-Friday from 7:30AM-4PM. Please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Kandace with any questions or concerns regarding your student and/or Gallahue’s services. She is here to be an additional support and service to you and your child. To refer your student to services, you may contact Ms. Kandace directly or contact the school counselor (Mrs. Jones) or another Creston administrator.

Citizens Energy Group Annual Free Chlorine Period

Citizens Energy Group informed us that on Monday, February 4th, they made a temporarily change their water distribution disinfectant from normal Chloramines to Free Chlorine. This process happens every year around this time and will last approximately four weeks.

Families,

We were notified by the IDOE that on 12:01 a.m ET Monday, January 14, Pearson disabled access to ISTEP+ Spring 2018 results in Parent Portal. If you would like a copy of your student's ISTEP+data, you will want to visit the site and download it. The website can be found by clinking the link below:

Indiana Senate Page Program

Did you know you can take a day off from school to serve as a page for the Indiana Senate? State Senator Aaron Freeman invites students in grades 6-12 to come to the Statehouse and spend an exciting day seeing our state government in action. You will have the opportunity to tour the Statehouse, meet Senator Freeman, and observe the legislative session from the Senate floor. Siblings and friends can sign up together, too! Fall Sports Update

The wrestling team picked up a win against Eastwood on Tuesday night. They were defeated by Chapel Hill in the 2nd round of the Marion County Tournament on Thursday


Girls basketball lost 2 games this week to New Pal and Westlane.


Reminder that swimming practice is Monday through Thursday each week starting at 7 pm at Warren Central High School. Please enter door 14.


Any 5th through 8th grade girl interested in free soccer clinics hosted by the varsity coaches, please see the attachment below.


Spring sports will be here before you know it! Boys and girls track, girls tennis, baseball and softball will all start on Monday, March 4. Be sure to have a physical on file if you plan to tryout or join any of those teams.


Track pre-season conditioning will continue on Tuesdays and Thursday every week after winter break. It will be after school until 4:30 pm. Athletes staying for conditioning will be expected to ride the activity bus home on those nights. You must have a physical on file with Mr. Treesh if you are planning to stay for conditioning. Questions may be directed to Mr. Treesh, Athletic Director, or Mr. Peckham, track coach.

Breakfast Reminder

Just a reminder that breakfast is available to all of our students every morning for free in their classroom. If you have any questions, please contact Haley Quade via email at hquade@warren.k12.in.us.

Sonny Day Community Center

The Warren Township Council of PTSs runs this pantry that provides food, toiletries, cleaning products, school supplies and gently used clothing to families of Warren Township students.

Parents/guardians need to get a signed letter from the school to go to Sonny Day. Please contact Mrs. Jones, school counselor, at 317-532-6800 ext. 6817.

How important is attendance for student success?

The single most important factor for student achievement and graduation vs dropout rate is student attendance (Reid, 2006). The state of Indiana with the new ESSA Plan has defined a student with "model attendance" as missing no more than 7 days of school. Anything over 7 days is defined by the state as "chronic abseentism." We have challenged our students to do even better than that and set a goal of missing no more than 5 days of school this year.


We do understand that there are situations that arise where an absence can't be prevented. Please help communicate those reasons to the school by calling the main line at 532-6800 between 6:00-7:00 a.m. to report the absence.


Excused Absences Include:

1. Personal illness or injury (please drop off physician's notes to front desk)

2. Death in the immediate family

3. Attendance at a family funeral

4. Religious observances required by church officials

5. Serving as a page in the legislature

6. Court appearance/court detention

7. Working at polls

21st Century Scholars

The Indiana 21st Century Scholarship Program is an early commitment college promise program funded by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education (CHE), offering income-eligible Hoosier students up to four years of paid tuition at an eligible Indiana two-year and/or four-year higher education institution.



Students must be enrolled before June 30th of their 8th grade year.

P.E. Uniforms For Sale at the Bookstore

The bookstore will be open every morning before school and during P.E. classes next week for students who still need to purchase P.E. uniforms. The cost is $20 and includes a shirt, shorts, and CMS string bag.
