Students are working hard to make attendance a priority and making every day count- our progress challenge and team winners are: 6th Grade, Cruisers, 7th, Discoverers, 8th Crusaders. We will be challenging students upon their return to meet a different behavior goal, but ask for parents to continue to support attendance at school and keeping sick students home when needed. Thank you!

SMS teachers are in the process of recommending students to take the Iowa Algebra Aptitude test to determine the best middle school math placement for students and assess readiness for the rigors of an Honors math class. However, parents do have the option to request that their student take this test as well.

If your student is not currently in an honors or advanced 6th or 7th grade math class and you wish for your student to be considered for an accelerated math course, please fill in the form below. Students who are entered into this form will be given the opportunity to test to see if they are able to be considered for this path. The test will be administered mid-January. Please finalize your request by January 3, 2023. Thank you.

Chamber Stings and Band students were accompanied by Mr. Chidsey and Mrs. Bravo to the IX Center to perform for our community. The students had a great time and really enjoyed performing . Students were very professional and represented SMS in a positive manner. Way to go SMS musicians!

Our students ended the week and headed into break supporting our students in our first unified sports assemblies. Big thank you to Mrs Wilson, Mrs. Connor, Mrs. McLaughlin and Ms. Arsenault for their time and dedication preparing students for this wonderful event! Our students were excellent spectators and the event was enjoyed by all! What a great way for us show thankfulness as a school family.

SMS is once again offering the opportunity for all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to be part of our Ski and Snowboard Club. This is a learn-to-ski/snowboard club so you don't need to have any prior experience. Weekly lessons are included for all club members. Click HERE for an informational sheet with the details. Additional information and forms can be accessed in the SMS Ski Club Google Classroom. Anyone interested in being part of this club needs to REGISTER HERE. by November 22. Payment is not due until December 9.
