#CSW20 MASS & OPEN HOUSE
SUNDAY, JANUARY 26
10:30 a.m.
We benefit all year long from the religious guidance, prayers, and support St. Ann Parish provides our school. We will celebrate at the 10:30 a.m. Mass on January 26 and ask all school families to please plan to be there. All students should be in formal school uniform and will receive a NUT card for participating (check in with your homeroom teacher before Mass, and NUT cards will be distributed on Monday). Immediately following Mass will be an Open House in the school. Please bring your friends and come and explore the kids' current classrooms, and meet your children’s teachers for next year.
Don't Forget About the $500 Referral Reward!
Please bring your friends to Open House and be sure to take advantage of our Referral Incentive Program. If your friend fills out a form indicating you referred them, you will receive a $500 tuition credit for each family who enrolls because you brought them in!

Slam Dunk Hunger Out of Lansing
JANUARY 27 - FEBRUARY 7
Lansing's annual Roundball Classic 5th Grade basketball tournament is coming up, and along with it the annual Food Drive (which we have won an unprecedented five times in a row). We will be collecting boxed and canned goods to benefit the Lansing Food Pantry. Letters went home in this week's Thursday Envelope with information and desired items for donation. In addition to all of us feeling good about helping others, the class that sends in the largest average number of items will win a special treat!
WE ALSO NEED EMPTY BOXES AND ALDI BAGS WITH HANDLES FOR TRANSPORT IF YOU HAVE ANY!
Youth Group Invitation
TUESDAY, JANUARY 28, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
St. John Church, 301 Cottage Grove, Glenwood
Our SAS 7th and 8th graders have been invited to join the St. John Church Youth Squad. The group meets every other Tuesday during the school year in the church's Blue Room and is open to teens up to age 17. Come for a year of fun, spiritual learning, sharing, giving, and making new friends. For more information, please contact Nancy Galbreath at 708.296.8704.
#CSW20 Open House #2
Come on in anytime during the school day to see our classes in action. Let your friends and other interested people know that we are here and ready to show them around, answer questions, etc. We have a lot to be proud of this year, and can't wait to share the good news!
Casino NIGHT AT THE PALACE UPDATES
Our next planning meeting is WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 29, 7:00 p.m. at J.J. KELLEY'S. Earn an hour for attending the meeting. Earn many more hours by donating, securing sponsorships, or volunteering at the event! Sign up here.
Event tickets are now on sale after Masses and in the Parish Office, and order forms went home in this week's Thursday Envelope. They are $50 each and include dinner, open bar, dancing, and lots of fun! In case you haven't heard the news, this year we are featuring cash casino gaming: poker, craps, roulette, and blackjack. Try to round up all your friends so you can sit together. Or we can create class tables, so you can sit with other parents from your kids's classes. There will be a prize for the class that has the highest percentage of parent participation (attending, donating, working, they all count).
Don't forget to ask your employer or other business contacts to sponsor our evening. Any parents who bring in at least $1,000 in sponsorships will have their entire volunteer credit fulfilled, just like that! Donor letters and sponsorship forms were in last week's Thursday envelope, and extra copies or electronic versions are available for download on our website.
Skating Party
No homework tonight as we Celebrate Our Students #CSW20! Tickets are $7 and will be available for purchase during Morning Assembly on Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Every student who buys a ticket will receive a NUT card for a future day out of uniform (even if they don't end up attending the party). Also, the class with the highest ticket sales will win an ADDITIONAL dress down day!
Kids of all ages are invited; there are accommodations for even the youngest skaters. Skate rentals are $2.50 (they even have learn-to-skate skates for the little ones, and "walkers" on wheels are available for $4 rental fee). Parents/guardians are not required to skate, but every student does need to be accompanied by a responsible adult who will sign them in and out and remain on the premises for the duration of the event. This means that if you are unable to stay, another adult (18 or over) must be willing to take responsibility for your child in your absence. Our February Skating Party is being hosted by the 6th Grade Parents. If that's you, please sign up for a spot!
DADDY DAUGHTER DANCE TICKETS NOW ON SALE: $30 per couple through 1/31
Ticket order forms went home in last week's Thursday Envelope. Be sure to get yours by January 31 or the price goes up! There is also a volunteer SignUp. If moms want to watch from afar and snap a couple sneaky candids, the only way to be there is to help out that night.
PRACTICE PRESCHOOL Is Returning!
Do you or someone you know have a child who will be three years old by September 1? We would like to invite these little ones to attend weekly "Practice Preschool" sessions at St. Ann during the month of February to get a taste of what it will be like to go to school. We have four flexible options, and you are welcome to choose up to two of them! Practice Preschool will meet on Thursdays, February 6 & 13, from 4-5:00 p.m. and February 20 & 27 from 6-7:00 p.m. in the PreK room. Attendees will have the opportunity to become familiar with the space and the teachers, and play and learn alongside current students.

A New Way to EArn Money for SAS
With the Shoparoo app on your cell phone, you can turn your shopping receipts into donations to the school! Ask your friends and relatives to do the same and let's see the free money start rolling in.
Stracks Receipts Total to Date: $29,779.74--Keep Sending Them In!
Collect Strack & VanTil Food Market register receipts dated between September 1, 2019 and March 2, 2020 to help St. Ann earn FREE educational rewards! Every classroom has a Collection Envelope, and we will be tallying the value of the receipts turned in. The class that brings in the most will win a prize!
Earn a 75% Tax Credit by Donating to a State Tax Credit Scholarship!
If you or anyone you know likes to take advantage of the tax credits you can get from year-end giving, please refer to the Archdiocese of Chicago's Tax Credit Scholarship information page. Not only will donations to the program made before February 29 (or until the fund is depleted) through Empower Illinois be TRIPLED by the 2-for-1 matching program, but your entire Illinois state tax liability could be eliminated! That means a $1,000 donation gets you a $750 tax credit, and becomes $3,000 in scholarship funding! Plus, donors can designate which school receives their funds, so the money can all stay right here at St. Ann in scholarships to help our families. Print a fact sheet here to give to your loved ones.
Weekly School Masses
We attend Mass together as a school community most Wednesday mornings in the Church at 9:00 a.m. Please join us any time!
NOTE: There will be no Wednesday Mass during Catholic Schools Week--please plan to join us at the all-school CSW kickoff Mass on Sunday, January 26 before the Open House!
