Weekly Staff Letter
December 17th - December 20th
Happy Holidays...Family First!
Planning tip...The Week before Break
FOR A CARE-FREE BREAK:
- Begin planning and prepping for our first week back.
- Check-in with a team member to encourage them to get ahead of the game.
- Have all your copies and supplies for the first week back ready to go by Friday.
- Manage and utilize your plan time efficiently. So that you have more family time over the break.
- Something to think about: Copiers always break on the first day back.....
Traveling Iron Cardinal of the Week:
Eric has passed the Iron Cardinal to Mark Jansen. Mark does a lot of things for the kids and staff here at GVHS. He goes out of his way to make things happen. Both of Eric's sons (Luke and Jake) have passed through his classes and they speak highly of Mark. Thank you for all you do at our school and within our community. Mark, you are a true cardinal, and we thank you for your commitment to the kids of our community!
This award is to be passed along from one colleague to the next every Friday. The weekly recipient selects the next recipient and so on. The goal is to select an unsuspecting person outside of your regular contacts and to recognize their contributions to GVHS. (selection ideas...custodians, secretaries, teachers, paras, advisors, counselors, lunch ladies...ect.)
All Hands on Deck!
Resist the urge to ease up on our behavioral expectations. Support each other and address issues when you see them, don't just leave it up to your colleagues.
- Be visible in the hallways
- Be out and about before and after school
- Be on time for your duties
- Be the adult in all situations (Empathy goes a long way. Some kids do not know what next week looks like for them and typically act out or push the limits.)
- All hands on deck Thursday and Friday (All on Duty before and after school. After school please work your way down to the front atrium as students are leaving. If an issue happens it's usually within the first 5 min of the bell.)
- Take 5 min and make a pass through the lunchroom and the front atrium during lunch Thursday and Friday. Use this time to continue building relationships.
