School-site Covid Testing

Crest View will have testing tomorrow Jan. 22!

As you may have seen in this message from BVSD, free mobile Covid tests sites for students, families, and staff are now operating. A team of BVSD employees will be administering saliva tests from 10am-4pm at schools throughout the district. You can check the schedule and register here.

There is also a permanent site at Centaurus High School offering the nasal swab test. Please refer to the message for instructions on how to register for either of these options or any of the COVIDCheck Colorado sites.

Blue Sky Bridge Presentations

Blue Sky Bridge offers body safety education programs to students in kindergarten and 3rd grade. This year they are providing lessons which will be covered in the classroom by teachers and our counselor, Naomi Moddel. For more information please see their site for an overview video for parents/guardians and other resources.

Giving Snowman Update

The annual “Giving Snowman” was a huge success again this year! Everything was different this year from how people donated, to gift cards only, to personalized delivery but the Crest View community stepped up and provided gift cards to over 75 Crest View families (over 150 children). City Church on Jay Road donated gift cards to 40 children. Together this is an amazing show of support for Crest View’s families in need. What a wonderful community!

Thank you to all who participated!

Creation Station News

Our annual CV book fair is back and it is better than ever. We will be hosting an online book fair supporting our local Boulder Bookstore February 16-25. You can shop in person at Boulder Book Store, on their website, or call the store and place an order over the phone. Just mention Crest View at checkout! Everything they sell counts toward our fair (including books for adults, puzzles, and even chocolate bars).

A small amount of each purchase comes back to our Crest View Creation Station for the purchase of new books.

To celebrate the fair, we will also have two author virtual spotlights throughout the week. Amy McCulloch, who will be promoting her new book Unleashed (sequel to Jinxed) and Joanna Ho, author of Eyes That Kiss in the Corners. Both books will be available to purchase during that week.

Please see attached flyer for more information.

Counselor Corner

Dear Families,

This week I asked your children if they had advice for President Biden and Vice President Harris as they begin their new roles. Here is what they had to say:

Be kind.

Work hard.

Stay true to your word. If you make a promise, keep it.

Speak the truth.

Think about your actions.

Set a good example for others.

Keep going and don’t give up when things get hard.

Be respectful.

Be positive in your communication.

Do the right thing, not the easy thing.

Listen to all perspectives and keep an open mind when making laws and decisions.

Take breaks and breathe when you feel overwhelmed.

In addition to offering advice, your children hope that the new administration will do the following:

End the spread of COVID-19

Do good things for the world

Take care of our planet

Help immigrants become legal citizens

Protect endangered animals

End Racism

Work on climate change issues

Decrease pollution

Increase renewable energy

Maintain positive relationships with the international community

End homelessness

Help the elderly

Your students are so wise and caring. They give me hope for our future.

Sincerely,

Naomi

Zapster's Rolling Out

Our Zapsters program will be starting up again next week. For those of you that are not familiar with the program, Zapsters helps to encourage our students to use human powered transportation to get to and from school each day. Through a simple RF tag, your child's daily trips will be logged and they will be eligible to receive prizes and gift cards. Each week one student will be recognized on CVTV for their efforts. If you are interested in learning more about the program and registering your child, please click here for more information. Past participants, your old cards and helmet tags should still work so please continue to use those. Any questions please contact Kelly at crestviewzapsters@gmail.com.
