Valerie's Vision
This week, visions of sugarplums are dancing in all of our heads. Winter break has finally arrived and we are all ready to spend time with family, relax, and enjoy the dark nights filled with Christmas lights.
This week, I've apparently turned into a 65 year old lady and had an outbreak of shingles. While this is annoyingly painful, I've been given doctors orders to rest as much as possible, and to simply let my body heal.
Over winter break, the hustle and bustle of traveling to family members' houses, cooking, shopping, cleaning, and repeating the entire process can get overwhelming at times. You can follow my doctor's orders and allow yourself to rest to-physically, mentally, and emotionally. Working in a school, we simply become everything to everyone- a parent, a counselor, an advocate, a disciplinarian, a nurse, a mentor, a friend, and completely wore out. Don't forget to enjoy the quiet moments over the next two weeks and allow yourself to simply take a break.
"There is virtue in work and there is virtue in rest. Use both and overlook neither."- Alan Cohen
