Supply Chain Manager

Job Role
The job role of a supply chain manager is to minimize costs in which are spent through the supply chain, and the transportation of raw materials all the way through to the retailer, another aspect of this job includes research into the quality of the clothing as well as the efficiency in respect to how smoothly the system is run from start to finish.
Responsibilities
Within this job there many factors in which make the supply chain system affective and these a ran by various people in whom aren't as high up as the supply chain manager and that's why leaderships skills and organisation are key, jobs in which the supply chain manager will watch over various jobs throughout all sectors, these will include;
- Negotiating contracts with suppliers
- Transportation of goods
- Making sure products arrive on time
- Tracking shipments
- Looking for improvements to the supply chain system
- Monitor stock flows
- Building reports (daily, weekly and monthly)
Roles in which would carry out the tasks above would include; interim supply chain administrator, supply chain asset manager, supply chain and purchasing manager and supply chain analyst.
However more personal jobs to the supply chain manger could include;
- Monitoring the performance of the team
- Recruiting and training new staff members
- Suggesting improvements on the quality and productivity of different jobs
For the supply chain to work as beneficially and efficiently as possible all of these tasks have to be brought together in an organised fashion so that the system runs smoothly, meaning the product arrives on time to the suppliers as well as attempting to reduce costs within as much as possible.
Working hours and income
The starting rate for this job is at £20,000 to £25,000 pounds however as more experience is gained the wage can rise rather dramatically to £25,000 to £45,000 pounds, yet again with more experience Senior supply chain manager can ear anything up to £60,000 pounds, these could be considered as guideline for the potential earnings of somebody within this job.

With these skills somebody within the job role will be able to thrive, with all the skills already said on of the key ones is being able to use a computerised system in order to track items in which are being transported and the supply chain manager would track these items from material all the ways through to the finished product with the supplier.
