May News

Check out what's happening in May! We are blessed to teach such an amazing group of students!

  • Please check your child's Tiger Tracker weekly to keep up to date on all 3rd grade news!
  • Check out your child's Class Dojo report daily! Students who have a 95% or higher average for the week get to join the lunch bunch on Fridays! Students who have a 95% or higher for the 9-weeks will be invited to the Party with the Principal!
  • Students should be reading at least 15 minutes per night! Reading with your child helps to increase their fluency and build vocabulary. Their reading log will be checked weekly on Friday. They need to have at least 5 entries to earn their $5 bonus!
  • Transportation notes should be written on a separate piece of paper with your child's name, homeroom teacher, and date. Please remind your child to turn in their notes in the morning!

Book of the Month

Last Day Blues by Julie Danneberg

In this last-day favorite, and sequel to First Day Jitters (Danneberg, 2000), Mrs. Hartwell’s class works all week to make her a special last-day surprise. I love the ending where the teachers are celebrating, too. One of our school’s last day rituals is holding all the busses until every teacher is outside. Then, we all wave as the busses pull away for the final time. It is quite an emotional moment.

I cant believe it is that time again to start wrapping up the year. It has been such an amazing year and I have truly enjoyed teaching your child this year. Each of every one of them brought something special and unique into the classroom. I know that this year is coming to an end, but please do not be fooled as we still have test, grades, and all kinds of fun events that will be taking place. We will be continuing to review daily and start incorporating standards from 4th grade. Therefore, we will still have weekly homework that will need to be completed, so please continue to check their homework as well as their Tiger Tracker for upcoming events.

Please continue to practice multiplication facts nightly as well. Student can still earn their ICE CREAM SUNDAE PARTY. KEEP STUDYING!!

Science/Social Studies

Wow! I can't believe that the year is coming to an end. We have learned so much in Science and Social Studies. It is time to show what we know. We will take the End of the Year Common Assessment on May 15th. Between now and then we will be review all we have learned during class and through homework. Also, the students can study by logging into Education Galaxy and completing all the Social Studies and Science lessons.

Thank you so much for your support this year! It has been an honor to teach your kiddos and I know they are going to finish the year with a BANG!
