Academics
Math- This week we will continue working through two units in math. We will make and use line plots to solve problems, and then start looking at the relationship between decimals and fractions. In geometry we will compose and decompose angles. Time allowing, I would also like to teach a lesson on parallel and perpendicular lines.
Social Studies - Today students will be taking their government test. We will just right in to studying regions this week too. We will try to complete our study of our first region, the Northeast Region this week.
Reading - We finish our Adventure/Survival unit this week. This was our last reading unit. In the weeks to come, I will be administering the year-end DRA testing to each student.
Writing - This week we will continue our poetry unit by adding similes and metaphors to our poems, we will also shape our poems, and add "vivid" verbs to make our poems more intersting.
Science -Science will then be put on hold while we focus on Social Studies.

M-STEP DATES
Please note the dates above that we will be taking the M-STEP. In addition to the testing times, there are "classroom activities" that students need to be present for in order to complete the testing. Our "classroom activity" dates are April 27th and May 4th.
M-STEP Preparation
We spent time over the last few weeks working through sample problems for the M-Step. I encourage you to have your son/daughter spend some time at home with the on-line practice too.
