December/January Message from Mrs. Hernandez
Winter is here! I hope you are enjoying the snowy weather - I know it can make travel tough, but I love how fresh it makes everything feel.
We try to get the students outside as much as possible, even during the winter. If you have snow boots, hats, and gloves for your student, please send them to school each day. We go out to recess unless the temperature (including wind chill) is above 0 degrees. We may stay in if it is snowing heaving, especially if its a wet snow, or if our playground has not been plowed yet. We encourage students who do not have boots to stay on the asphalt when there is fresh, wet snow. To keep students safe we: encourage the snow to stay on the ground; ask students to stay off snow hills and ice patches; and make sure students are bundled up in warm winter coats.
Unfortunately, we have been experiencing a lot of sickness these last couple of weeks. We are encouraging students to wash hands and cover their sneezes/coughs. Please remember, that when students are out sick, we ask that they stay home until they have been 24 hours symptom free. We understand that coughs can last a while, as long as your student is feeling better and has not had a fever in the last 24 hours, they can return with a mild cough. We appreciate your help in keeping students healthy!
