Remember Core Areas
In kindergarten, instructional time should focus on two critical areas: (1) representing, relating, and operating on whole numbers, initially with sets of objects; (2) describing shapes and space. More learning time in kindergarten should be devoted to number than to other topics.

Because there are not nationally mandated tests below third grade, the availability of sample tests is highly varied. Suggestions for materials are listed below, but remember that these are teacher-created materials that may or may not be perfectly aligned. They can serve as good sample problem sets to draw from.

Testing Vocabulary
This may not be appropriate for Kindergarten students, but considering words that your students might hear can be a good reference point for teachers. Not all of these will be applicable to Kindergarten.
