New Members Inducted into the Iowa-Grant National Honor Society
Iowa-Grant recently welcomed new members into the Iowa-Grant High School Chapter of the National Honor Society. Students are selected for this organization based on effective demonstration of the four qualities held in high esteem by the association: Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service.
Our newly inducted members include:
Ashley R, Meagan C, Elyse L, Rachel R, Rylee S, Sophie V, and Lillian W.
Our new members were inducted by our current Senior members:
Leslie B-R, Hope C, Jalyssa C, Yessica G, Ivy L, Kenadie M, Madelyn R, Audrey R, Julia S, Bekka S, Alexis T-B, Elizabeth V, Caitlyn W, and Evie W.
Please help us congratulate these students on this honor they have earned.

Do you need to declutter your kitchen cabinets? Do you have kitchen appliances you never use and want to part with? Did Santa bring you new kitchen supplies?
The Iowa-Grant Ag Department would gladly take any of the items you do not want anymore off your hands. We are open to taking anything, but here are some things we really could use:
- Microwave safe bowls (glass bowls) - all sizes
- Stainless steel or plastic measuring cups and spoon sets (Prefer the measurements to be engraved on them. When they are just printed on, they tend to wash off and then the students do not know the measurements.)
- Dehydrators
- Food processors
- Stand and Hand mixers
- Blenders
- Instant pots
- Air fryer
- Canning supplies - water bath canners
- Eating utensils, plates, bowls
- Cooking utensils
- Kitchen scissors
- Knives and sharpeners
- Pots and pans
- Rubber spatulas
- Dry storage containers for flour, sugar, etc.
Please keep the ag department in mind when wanting to part with kitchen equipment in the future, too. High school students are not the most gentle on equipment and often times we are in need of replacements. For example, we retired a pan after our fudge lab….

IOWA-GRANT ELEMENTARY / MIDDLE SCHOOL

From the Desk of Mrs. Gallagher
Welcome 2023, and welcome back, students and staff! We are about to finish the first semester already. There will be no school on January 20th for teachers to participate in professional development and finish grading. On January 19th, students will have the 2nd quarter pep rally and Kindness focus.
On January 2nd, we welcome our new English Language Learning Instructor, Brittany Spurley-Clay. Brittany brings terrific experiences in the Spanish language that will help our students.
Middle school girls' basketball and middle school wrestling will continue this month. Students in the elementary and middle school will complete their mid-year NWEA maps testing as we prepare for our Forward Exam this spring.
The summer recreation committee will be meeting this month, and we hope to get summer information to you regarding both summer recreation and summer school in February. It is hard to believe we are thinking of summer, but it will be here before we know it!
Volunteers using IGEMS: Please remember to lock and check all outside doors before leaving the premises, especially on weekends and when building staff is not present.
I wish you a fantastic start to 2023!
Full-Day 4K FAQs - Jodi Bast
On January 20th, we will be hosting an informative pre-registration session for parents and preschool screening session for incoming 4K students. Below you will find some frequently asked questions and answers:
Who should attend? Anyone who lives in the Iowa-Grant School District who has a child turning 4 on or before September 1, 2023.
How long will the screening last? One hour; we have 6 screening spots per hour. The first session starts at noon and the last session starts at 5 PM.
Do I need to register now or can we show up at the door? Please call ahead to sign up for your preferred time to assure your child will receive the attention he or she deserves.
Will I have a chance to see the school and 4K classrooms? Yes, school is not in regular session on January 20th, and you will be able to tour our school facility.
What if I’m not sure my child is ready for 4K? This event is designed to assess preschool readiness skills and to answer your questions about your child’s development and our school’s programming, so you can make an informed decision regarding your child’s educational needs.
What if I have concerns about my child’s speech & language development? Please let the school know of any concerns you have when calling to set up your screening appointment. We will have a Speech Language Pathologist available on January 20th for this purpose.
Who are the 4K teachers? Mrs. Tricia Sander and Mrs. Kristen Nelson bring many years of teaching experience to our 4K program. Our teaching assistants and Mrs. Darcy Breuer (Early Childhood) are also vital to our program’s success.
What if my child is not yet toilet trained? We expect all 4K students to be fully toilet trained (wearing underwear, not pull-ups) when entering our program in September.
Is transportation provided for 4K students? Yes, 4-year-old students are eligible to ride the bus to and from school. They follow the same school calendar as our other elementary students.
What if my child still takes a nap each day? Rest time is built into the daily schedule, and many children sleep during this rest time.
Do I need to pack a lunch for my child? Students are able to eat a cold lunch provided by their home or a hot lunch prepared by our food service staff. Milk for snack time can also be purchased at school.
Do the kids play outside? Yes, both outdoor and indoor play are important components in their school day. We have a beautiful outdoor play area for our students!
Please bring your child and any additional questions you may have with you on January 20th, and call today to reserve your appointment slot!
