Reader's Reef
All Horry County schools are participating in this reading marathon sponsored by the Share the Magic Foundation. The purpose of this 26.2 day competitive event is to increase reading stamina among students. It is the brain child of former UGA and New England Patriots wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell who struggled with reading until his college years which is when he decided to put as much effort into reading as he did athletics.
I would love to see all SJM students read at least 400 minutes between now and November 7. Students will complete a Google form of minutes read during their ELA class on Oct. 24 and Nov. 7. They can turn in their bookmarks at those times for the chance to win a bookish prize pack from the Library Learning Commons.
