Certified Staff Classroom Coverage
The purpose of this communication is to outline the process for compensating teachers who voluntarily give up their plan time to cover another teacher's class during instructional time. When a teacher volunteers to provide classroom coverage, they will need to log into Time Clock Plus to log their time and to identify the teacher they are covering for on that particular day. This will provide a record for payment and assist with trend analysis for the development of a more accurate budget line for the following year. Administrators will be asked to assist in coordinating classroom coverage and will approve time every week within the Time Clock Plus system.
As a reminder, payment for coverage will be approved for the following reasons:
- Coverage for a coach who left early for an event
- Providing coverage for a teacher when a substitute can not be secured
Payment would not be approved for the following reasons:
- A teacher left early due to a personal reasons under the two-hour leave provision under Board Policy GCBDA. Coverage would be handled internally without payment, as long as it is approved by administration.
- When a class of students is broken up and divided among multiple teachers.
The steps to log into Time Clock Plus have been outlined in the attached series of screen shots to assist first time users. For any further questions, please contact Salli Sullins in the Business Service Department at extension 2108.
