Oak Bankers Desk c. 1900
$100
A Solid Piece of History
This desk was purchased at Prospect Hill Antiques in New Hampshire over 15 years ago and has been a wonderful addition to our home ever since. With downsizing to a smaller townhouse and making a substantial move, it's now ready to join someone else's home!
Made from beautiful oak with a pronounced grain, this desk is a bankers desk commissioned by the Clarke School for the Deaf in Northampton, MA right around the turn of the 20th century. It has a pull out writing desk, a center drawer with wells for pens, and three other drawers with adjustable compartments. It's 42 inches wide, 32 inches deep and 30 inches high.
There is a scratch on the top of the desk and a piece chipped from the edge (we are still angry at our bumbling movers for that one) but someone with basic wood finishing skills would be able to repair these areas, particularly with such a discounted price as an incentive. Because of the size and weight of the unit, they buyer needs to arrange for pickup at our home.
