WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE CLASSROOM??
- Homework: Students need to get their weekly reflection signed and complete their homework bingo sheet and math problem on the back side (pink colored paper). Please have your child return their gray folder with their completed homework sheet by next Friday 12/21.
- Innovation: We will move into week 4 of Innovation Block 2. Students will be working in the innovation lab for one more week. They will be learning new programs through rotations that Mrs. Dixon has set up to help practice what we are learning in the classroom through the use of technology. Some of the programs students will be working with include: Bitsbox, Scratch, Ozobots, Spheros and Dash.
- Language Arts -We will finish Unit 4-Comparing Points of View! Click here for the parent letter. This week we will be reading the story, The True Jack. We will be working on identifying key details and summarizing and comparing and contrasting points of view of different characters with our own.
- Math -UNIT 3: Problem Solving with Multiplication and Division. Click here for the Unit 3 parent letter with lots of great information about what standards we will be covering and the academic vocabulary we will be using. The big idea of this unit is how multiplication and division are used to solve real world situations, Continue to practice your multiplication facts at home!!!
- Writing -Students will be writing an opinion paragraph on their point of view of Jack, from Jack and the Beanstalk. Students will be working on spelling, grammar, capitalization, punctuation and supporting their opinion with text evidence.
- Spelling- We will be studying words with the consonant -le pattern. Some words include title, table, giggle, example, circle and candle.
- Vocabulary- Students will be able to use reference materials to build their vocabulary. They will show their understanding of the words by using them in a sentence during collaborative conversations and in their writing. Some of our vocabulary words we will focus on in this unit are compose, detestable, toil, impulsive and snatched.
- 7 Habits - Habit 3: Put First Things First. Students are working on completing their work and focusing on what's most important first.
If you have any box tops at home please send them in! We collect box tops in the classroom all year long!
