Gingerbread House Decorating
***Volunteers are needed next Monday, December 7th from 2:20-3:30 to help divide out all of our gingerbread candy and materials that we will be using on the 16th. Please let me know if you are able to volunteer. You must have a background check and watch the anti-bullying video in order to volunteer!***

Lost and Found
If your child is missing an item (coat, lunchbox, etc.), please remind him/her to check the lost and found table located in the cafeteria. Many lost items are piling up just waiting to be found! You may wish to label any items sent to school with your child’s name in order to make locating lost items easier.

Our next Words Their Way spelling test will be Friday, December 11th. Words went home on Monday, November, 30th. Our first Wordly Wise vocabulary quiz will be Thursday, December 17th.
Monday: Read a book for 20 minutes.

Class Library Checkout!
Our next class library checkout day will be Tuesday, December 8th, but remember, your child may bring his/her books back at anytime. We will find a time for him/her to visit the library individually to get new books!
We are Learning...
Next week in reading we will begin our focus on informational text. Students will learn that when reading informational text, they may need to approach their reading differently! We will discuss that the author and illustrator of an information book may be an expert and it trying to teach the reader something new! We will learn to become experts on using the table of contents, and the glossary!
Math:
We will begin our division unit. Students will learn a variety of strategies to divide numbers. We also used concept attainment to learn the difference between prime and composite numbers.
Writing:
We will begin our unit on opinion writing! We will also begin working on our gingertown PBL business proposal.
Word Study
We will begin Wordly Wise vocabulary. Students will be bringing home a copy of the words on Monday. We will complete the workbook at school and then bring home the section to help us study. Our first quiz will be Thursday, December 17th.
Social Studies:
We will continue our study of economics. Students will describe how people in a community use productive resources, create a variety of businesses and industries, specialize in different types of jobs, and depend on each other to supply goods and services.
