It's Dark in Matter

Welcome To Space

Hello I understand that you are interested in going to space. Well before you go to space you must know what you are looking at.


Probably the first thing you will need to learn is Nebula's. They are the beginning and some times the end of star's. Although another possible reason for that is it dies collapses, turns into a black hole and swallow's everything that gets in its way, but that will be later. They hold dust and gas and minerals that will soon create star's. A way to end a star's life is the star suck's in everything then releases it all called a Super Nova. Nebula's are very pretty and fun to watch. You will know when you see one because they make a whole bunch of different shapes.

Main Sequence Star

When a star is made the next thing it would be called is a Main Sequence Star. Most of the averages stars will be in their main sequence stage. The star is burning hydrogen into helium and this is call fusion. This is only one of the paves a star can take. The other way is a massive star.

Red Giant's

Red Giant's are the next stage in the stars life cycle. It comes right after the average star. They grow really big, but have a really cool temperature. Their luminosity is very high. Like in the name of them they are red and giant.

Planetary Nebula

After the Red Giant would come the Planetary Nebula. This removes everything, but the star in the middle. How can you tell it is a Planetary Nebula? Well you can tell by in the end there will be a White Dwarf left. When you do look at the Planetary Nebula the colorful gas coming from it is not actually gas, but Cosmic Background Radiation.

White Dwarf

The White Dwarf is what is left over after a Planetary Nebula. They have nothing left too them, but light and temperature. Their luminosity is very low because they have nothing to burn. Their temperature is still very high though.

Black Dwarf

The Black Dwarf is the final stage in this path. It is basically is the same thing as a White Dwarf except is has no more light and doesn't look cool anymore.

Massive Star

This is the second starting point of the next path for a star to take the first is the Nebula, but you already learned about that. A Massive Star is blue and the hottest star in space. They are bright and normally start off in the main sequence.

Red Super Giant

I know what your thinking. No this is not a Red Giant and I just added super to it's name. The Red Super Giant is twice the size of the Red Giant and has a lower temperature. It may be on the down side for that, but is one of the most brightness stars.

Super Nova

A Super Nova was the other path that could end a stars life. Unlike the Planetary Nebula this one get's rid of everything, but it can also start things....The Super Nova can cause three ending paths to take.


The pulsar is one of the stars that would come after a supernova. A Pulsar sends is a very spinning Neutron Star the send out a signal like a light house.

Neutron Star

A Neutron star has nothing to emit and nothing in it anymore. After the blast there would be nothing left of it.

Black Hole

YYYYYYEEEEEESSSSSSS! Finally the one you have been waiting for, the Black Hole. The Black Hole is so massive and dense that not even light can escape this monster. Your probably wondering if it is black how can you see it. Well when you are up in space you can see a bunch of stars then there will be a massive black space so you can think that there's nothing there or it's a Black Hole.


There are three different types of galaxies.

Spiral- Spiral Galaxies have sphere in the center and extended out is arms that are blue. The blue means that the star's are young.

Elliptical- Elliptical galaxies are circular and have a bright light in the middle.

Irregular- Irregular galaxies are a category that if a Galaxy has no certain shape to it they call it Irregular because it is not regular.


Globular Cluster's- A Globular cluster is a pack a 100,000 to 1 million stars. They happen to be older that the open clusters. They are pack tight to together

Open Cluster's- Open clusters tend to have up to 1,000 stars in them. The stars are spread out in a open area so they call them Open cluster's.


A Quasar is a star that forms Black Holes. It has a really bright outside, but a dark middle because that is the Black Hole. It produces a high amount of energy and scientists think that when you enter a Black Hole you would come out the end of the Quasar.
