Flying into Our Final Full Week

The summertime vibes are definitely in the air here at Fletcher Elementary. The sun is out; kids are excited for the much anticipated Summer 2021. You'll find info about some incredible FREE programs for kids offered by SDUSD down at the bottom of the page. Act soon, they're filling up fast! Specifically, there's an awesome opportunity to work in the beautiful garden at Montgomery Middle School. See the flyer attached below for more details.

This week we also completed the selection process for our new Elementary School Assistant and Building Support Supervisor. After four days of interviews and over 20 candidates combined, we hit the jackpot with both of our selections. Stay tuned for next week's Flyer for the official announcement.

Next week is going to be FULL of excitement. Monday we have Field Day! See below for the schedule. Friday we'll be honoring the promotion of our 5th graders both online and with a drive-through celebration. We can't wait!

and the beaches are inviting

The California School Survey System (CAL-SCHLS) includes 3 surveys: California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS), California School Staff Survey (CSSS) and California Parent Survey(CPSS). All surveys are anonymous.

Please take the time to fill out this survey before the end of the day TODAY. Our goal is 100% participation for families/staff/students.

Summertime Upgrades on Campus

Things are going to be moving and shaking this summer at Fletcher Elementary. Starting on June 16th a crew will be on site starting the first big project- replacing the roofing on EVERY building except the library. Later on in the summer they'll be bringing out a crane to expedite the removal of an estimated 280,000 pounds of gravel on the roof. The projected completion date of this massive project is early August so there will be plenty of time before students return. Also alongside this project, our security is getting an upgrade with the installation of emergency two-way speakers (as seen in the picture above) in each classroom. This will allow us to quickly and easily communicate with the entire site in case of an emergency and also to start broadcasting morning announcements during breakfast. Later on in the fall, we'll be receiving an installation of perimeter fencing on the back of campus and in the front to further improve the security of our students and staff. Stay tuned for more details on that project.

Staff Spotlight - Mrs. Christina Woitte

Our Staff Spotlight this week is none other than Mrs. Christina Woitte, our Health Tech at Fletcher Elementary. When our students get bumps or bruises, or their tummies hurt, or their heads ache, she's the smiling face greeting them in the Health Office Tuesday through Thursday. This is Mrs. Woitte's third year at Fletcher, and 20th as a Health Tech in San Diego Unified. Prior to Fletcher, Mrs. Woitte served the Lincoln High School community during their reopening, and alongside now Deputy Secretary of Education, Dr. Cindy Marten (formerly SDUSD Superintendent) when she was Principal at Central Elementary. Mrs. Woitte's favorite aspects of being at Fletcher is seeing the eagerness of our students to learn and being part of this little gem of a community in the middle of the big City. Thank you Mrs. Woitte for keeping our students and staff healthy and safe!

IMPORTANT REMINDER FOR STUDENT SUCCESS - CHROMEBOOK CHARGING

Please ensure your student charges their chromebook or personal device every night and brings the charging cable with them to school. This will ensure there aren't unnecessary interruptions to their learning experience.
