Dear YCES Tiger Families,
Welcome back! I hope you and your family had a wonderful, relaxing break! It's tough to believe we are almost halfway through this school year! As we continue to monitor our students’ progress, we have come to the conclusion that changes were needed in how we serve our students in reading.
Our staff has been working very hard at learning new reading curriculum to support our students needs. Each student in our school has a 45 minute "Walk to Read" time. We have matched students with appropriate curriculum and highly skilled reading instructors. This means all the students meet with an adult in small groups to recieve instruction on what they need. During their "Walk to Read" time students walk to another teachers classroom or walk to our Reading Room (Title I). Our goal is for all groups to be fluent, students moving groups to meet their needs. We will be continually monitoring our students to make sure they are making appropriate growth.
Our families do so much to support our efforts here at the school. Our staff does so much to support learning for every student. Our students accept the challenge of being great every day. Working together, we have created a community of learning that WORKS!
I can’t wait to see what great things our students do in the new year and look forward to our continued partnership.
Better Together,
Amanda Dallas
