MONDAY: NO SCHOOL
TUESDAY: NO SCHOOL
WEDNESDAY: How do you show respect to people you don’t know?

BUCKS COUNTY LIBRARY CARD DRIVE 2/20-3/3
From February 20th to March 3rd, the Bucks County Free Library will be running a Virtual
Library Card Drive. You can visit all 7 branches in person or take advantage of some great digital
resources right from home.
The digital resources are completely free with your library card. Watch movies and TV shows on
your smart TV with Hoopla. Enjoy books and audiobooks on your e-reader, tablet, or smart
phone with CloudLibrary. Get homework help from live tutors on Brainfuse HelpNow. Find
helpful facts, articles, and photos for school assignments by searching through the many kid-
safe resources in Power Kids.
Here's how to register your child for a library card:
1. Click on this link to go to the online library card application for students:
Bucks County Free Library Card
2. Enter the password: $choolYear2022
3. Fill out the application with your child's information. If you have more than one child,
fill out a separate application for each child. Students ages 14+ can fill out their applications.
4. The library will set up your child(ren)'s library card account(s). You'll get an e-mail with the account information as soon as the account is ready. This means you can
start using it right away, even before you have the physical card.
5. After the drive has ended, your child will receive their physical library card from your
school librarian, Mr. Nagle.

MATH HAPPENINGS AT RICHLAND
We have a lot of wonderful math happenings going on at Richland!
First in Math is going strong in all grade levels! Students are practicing their basic math facts daily and earning stickers. Please continue to encourage your child(ren) to log on to First in Math and practice.
The highest level in First in Math is Grand Champion. Grand Champions earn 10,000 stickers. We are only halfway through the school year and we have 23 students at Grand Champion status!!! Very impressive!
At Richland, we are so impressed with our mathematicians that we created our own category, Richie’s 20,000+ Sticker Club, to celebrate their success. Two fifth graders hold that status. Way to go!
Math 24 is a classical math puzzle game. The 24 puzzle is an arithmetical puzzle in which the objective is to find a way to manipulate four integers so that the end result is 24. Want to get in on the fun? Here’s a video explaining the game.
Our fifth grade students have been practicing and playing Math 24 under the guidance of Mr. Huber. Mr. Huber sets up a “March Madness Math 24” bracket and fifth graders compete to solve puzzles. On March 3, 2023 the Richland competition will take place and we will crown a Math 24 Champion. The in-school competition will also help us form our team of 8 players (and 2 alternates) that will compete against other QCSD school students in the district competition on March 28, 2023 at Quakertown Community High School. Please join us and cheer on our Math 24 team!
March 8th is World Maths Day. Richland is learning more about this world event in hopes that we can participate. On 8 March 2023, millions of students across the globe will come together for World Maths Day – the world’s largest online mathematics competition. Look for more information to come shortly from your child’s classroom teacher.
March 14, 2023 is National Pi Day. It is celebrated in countries that follow the month/day (m/dd) date format, because the digits in the date, March 14 or 3/14, are the first three digits of π (3.14). Pi Day was founded by Physicist Larry Shaw in 1988. Any day that combines fun, education, and pie is a day worth celebrating!
