Preparing for a Great School Year

While families squeeze in a few more fun experiences this summer, we at Owatonna Public Schools are busy preparing for a great start to the school year!
We look forward to starting classes the week of August 29 on the following schedule:
Preschool and Elementary - Early Education-5th grade students begin Wednesday, August 31. Kindergarten-5th grade students and families have before school interviews on August 25 and 29, and grades 1-5 interviews continue on August 30.
Middle School - 6th grade students have orientation on Monday, August 29. 6th-8th grade students' first day of school is Tuesday, August 30.
High School - 9th-12th grade students begin Monday, August 29.
Application for Educational Benefits
Families are encouraged to fill out an Application for Educational Benefits. Only students with an approved 2022-2023 application on file or students who qualify through Direct Certification will receive free or reduced-price meal benefits this year.
NEW: Online applications may be completed in your Infinite Campus Parent Portal. The Meal Benefits Application (Application for Educational Benefits) can be found on the left hand side under "more". The PDF version to print or email is available at isd761.org/district-services/nutrition-services/educational-benefits.
2022-23 Full-Paid Student Meal Prices
- Kindergarten: breakfast - $0.00; Lunch - $2.60
- Elementary: Breakfast - $1.50; Lunch - $2.60
- Middle School: Breakfast - $1.55; Lunch - $2.65
- High School & ALC: Breakfast - $1.65; Lunch - $2.75
Annual Update
Parents/guardians have until Monday, August 23, to complete yearly back-to-school requirements, verify contact information on file, and review annual notices via your Infinite Campus Parent account.
School Supply Lists
Owatonna Public Schools uses TeacherLists as a way to share school supply lists with families to make back-to-school shopping easier and save time. Visit isd761.org and click on your school under “Schools” in the upper right corner to find the correct list.

2022-23 Online Ticketing
Game tickets and activity passes will again be pre-sold through Hometown Ticketing.
Online ticketing will be used for all events that require tickets for admission. Tickets can be scanned from your phone or printed and scanned.
Game tickets are available for spectators 1-2 weeks prior to events.
Ticket box office is available at owatonnaactivities.com - click on the blue box “Hometown Ticketing.”
Activity passes are available as an online option and scanned at the gates. Activity passes are also available in the Activities Office - 444-8988 or nbenson@isd761.org.
No cash will be accepted at events in 2022-23.
Immunizations: Is your child ready?
To go to school in Minnesota, students must show they’ve received immunization against a number of diseases or file a legal exemption with the school. Immunizations are due prior to the first day of school. Students entering 12th grade for the 2022-2023 school year are required to have documentation or a legal exemption for the booster dose of the meningococcal vaccine. (Most children received the initial dose of this vaccine when they entered 7th grade.)

School Board Election
School board members are elected during the November General Election on even years. All board members are elected at-large.
2022 Filing Dates
The period for filing affidavits of candidacy for the office of school board member begins August 2, 2022 and close at 5:00 p.m. on August 16, 2022.
Election Day: November 8, 2022
On November 8, 2022, four members will be elected to the School Board for terms of four years each.
Affidavits of Candidacy
Affidavits of Candidacy are available from the school district clerk at the Owatonna Public Schools District Office, 515 West Bridge Street, Owatonna. Affidavits of candidacy must be filed in the office of the school district clerk and the $2 filing fee paid prior to 5:00 p.m. on August 16, 2022.
