Fun for February
We have several school events that we will be doing throughout the month so please take a minute to read those below. (Me and My Guy Dance, Bengals spirit week, Jump rope for Heart, Valentines day, TWOs day, and Kindergarten registration!) This time of year can often be more difficult for kids because of the lack of sun and ability to go outside and play, so we want to create some fun & sunshine when we can. Our focus is creating an environment in which our kids can thrive, but thriving is more than just academics and we recognize that.
Although a short month. we are most certainly packing in a lot.
Teaching our students to CODE
They've been competing in small groups this week to finish different obstacles using a Sphero Bot and writing the code to complete the challenge.
See a quick little video of a group of 5th graders completing their 2nd challenge.
Love our kids-

Kindergarten Registration
We will have all the documents that you need copied for you, but when you come you need to bring with you:
1) Your child's birth certificate
2) Proof of residence (Must be a current utility bill with your name and address on it.)
3) We will need a current immunization record- but this can also be given to us through the rest of the school year.
4) Any legal documents that are pertinent to your child (name change, custody agreements, etc.)
We are offering ALL DAY Kindergarten again next year! (YEA!!!) Students who have completed registration/ enrollment packets will be added to classroom rosters. Those that are missing pieces will be held until completed. We do not consider teacher requests.

NH FRC
We are looking for additional parents to sit on our FRC advisory council board. It's voluntary and we meet about 6 times a year to discuss the work that our FRC is doing and what we need to try to support our students in within the community / school. If you are interested please contact Kelsee Aker. Our next meeting is next week, Feb. 9th at 12:30 at New Haven.

Health Corner...
We are seeing a serious decline in positive Covid cases at school which is a wonderful thing. I am still holding out hope that we will see a change to "endemic" status before the end of the year and be in a healthy enough place that we can ditch the masks. We will always do what is necessary to keep our kids in person, but we sure would love to see their entire faces again! I will most certainly keep you up to date on any news in that regard.
As of right now, we are still following the district mandates. Our after school events that are optional attendance, have the option of masking or not. It is parent choice for sports and events.
WHO DEY Spirt Week
Each day we will show our spirit in a fun way. See below for the plan!

Jump Rope for Heart! February 14th Challenge
Jump Rope for Heart Challenge
Thank you for joining our school’s Kids Heart Challenge (KHC) team!
I’m so excited about kicking off the program, and this year is going to be better than ever! We’ve got so many ways to help students get excited about moving more and being kind – we can’t wait to share these great activities with you.
During the challenging times we’ve faced over the past school year and beyond, many young people found it harder than ever to stay active and eat better. Likewise, social-emotional health was impacted, as well.
KHC’s service learning approach is so relevant right now, and a great way to continue helping all of us recommit to living the healthiest lives possible!
And, while we’re helping our own students feel good by doing good, we’re supporting the American Heart Association’s important mission. Families who participate can feel great knowing that they have helped people with special hearts – including children born with congenital heart defects – by supporting the Association’s work to fund critically needed scientific advances, community health initiatives, and educational programs.
We’ve made it easy for you to raise money online with your personal page.
Follow these steps:
- JOIN OUR TEAM at www.heart.org/KHC (on your phone or computer), search for our school and click “Sign Up.”
- DOWNLOAD THE APP for iPhone or Android by searching for Kids Heart Challenge. You can unlock your Heart Heroes, bring them to life and fundraise from your mobile device.
- JUMP START YOUR DONATIONS by being the first to give.
- ENCOURAGE YOUR STUDENT TO COMPLETE FINN'S MISSION in Headquarters, where they will learn key lessons about heart health! See how your fundraising and donations are making a difference for families like Alexa's.
Thank you for being part of our school’s Kids Heart Challenge team.
Together, we will help keep more hearts beating stronger!

Activities
Girls on the Run! We are starting Girls on the Run again! This is a fantastic program that pours into our girls. Mrs. Langhals coordinates this program for our girls. Both teams will practice on Monday & Wednesday from 3:45 to 5:00 pm. Parents should have received information about teams and practices.
Club / Sport Ideas : If you are interested in sponsoring a club or sport for New Haven students please reach out to Mrs. Goble. We understand the need for activities for our students k-5th grade, and are open to opportunities that parents are willing to run. We are open to a variety of ideas.

PTO
PTO sponsored events for our kids:
February: Me & My Guy is still scheduled for 2/4/22. The deadline for submitting the form has past. I will send out information to families if we are forced to change the date. My hope is that even if we have an NTI day due to weather, we will be able to continue with the dance that evening. I have been told that we will be able to clear and salt lots, etc, but we will play it by ear, and communication about the dance will sent out Friday afternoon.
We do want to thank all of our volunteers in advance. We have teachers, Ryle students, and parents volunteering to help us out that night.
March: The "Beast is back" :) Mother / Son (Me & my gal)- Dodgeball tournament! March 4th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. More information will be shared through PTO. Forms will be sent home and sent out electronically for families to sign up. There will be a deadline to due ordering food, pictures, supplies.
Weather & Outdoor play (REPEAT information)
Unfortunately, the next few months also means our "Lost and Found" becomes a treasure trove! We remind students to check the lost and found often, and I will also send home pictures to you to help reunite students to their belongings. If your child comes home missing a jacket, sweatshirt, hat, or gloves please encourage them to check the L&F!
Keep'n up with the Calendar! (dates will be added/ revised each month as needed)
