Greetings Donald Eismann families!
As we approach summer break, I wanted to share an easy and free self-care tip you can use as a family over the summer. A great way to alleviate stress and refocus on the present moment is to take a Mindfulness Walk. Here are the instructions below:
1) Step outside and take deep breaths, in through your nose, out through your mouth.
2) Try to pick out 2 or 3 different smells (fresh cut grass, clean air, flowers blooming, etc). Continue taking deep breaths.
3) Next, use find an object outside to describe in detail (the grass is different shades of green, long, spikey...), Continue taking deep breaths.
4) Find something that is safe to feel, or, focus on how the air feels when it touches your skin, and describe in detail (the air is warm, the breeze feels cool on my cheeks).
5) Listen to the world around you, and try to pick out at least 3 different noises (cars driving by, kids playing, wind rustling the leaves in the trees)
6) Lastly, name one thing you are grateful for, or that you appreciate.
This walk can happen anywhere! You can use this in the car, outside on a walk, and in your house!
Here are some great apps and websites for movement and mindfulness to get you through the summer:
If you would like to contact Donald Eismann Elementary over the summer, please email DEE@Sumnersd.org. Have a happy and safe summer vacation, Explorers!

Pandemic EBT for School Year 2020-21 is here!
In a continued response to COVID-19, the federal government is again offering Pandemic EBT cards to eligible families. Referred to as P-EBT 2.0, this version of food assistance offers a set amount of money per child, per day based on the number of days a student attended school remotely or in person. P-EBT 2.0 is meant to replace meals that students would have normally received if not for disruptions to in-person learning during the 2020-21 school year.
For students currently receiving free or reduced meal benefits, no application is required. The District will automatically send cards to eligible students. Please make sure their mailing address is up to date in Family Access.
If you haven’t applied yet or have questions about eligibility, please log into Family Access. Once there, click the Food Service button on the left and select Applications at the top. When a new box opens, please select Add Application to review instructions and complete the online application. More information can be found on the district Care & Well Being - Meals webpage and the following fliers: English P-EBT Spanish P-EBT Other Languages P-EBT.
