Message from the Principal
Whispering Pines Families,
Welcome back, we have had a wonderful week with your children. They are eager and enthusiastic about all things school! While we get back into the swing of things, we will be holding off on lunch visitors for a couple of weeks so we can get our cafeteria routines firmly in place and children have opportunities to build relationships with their peers.
We are refining our processes for dismissal and we have significantly decreased the time it is taking in the car rider line- You can help by keeping your car rider sign in your dash board until your child(ren) have made it to the car. We also ask that once you get your child please keep it to a slow crawl as you drive past our safety patrol and other students waiting for their parents.
Some parents have reached out about virtual learning. All families that were enrolled last year and requested virtual learning for this year have been placed. If you are seeking virtual instruction for your child please fill out the learning location change and you will be placed on a waiting list. If your child has a medical need please send the documentation and explanation to me at Wendy.Anaya@humbleisd.net and fill out the learning location change. I will assist in contacting the district on your behalf. Children are not receiving virtual instruction at WPE but if they return Face to Face they will come back to our campus.
Thank you for all of the support this first week of school. Be on the lookout for upcoming events in that section of our newsletter!

DID YOU KNOW?? 📚
A robust vocabulary improves all areas of communication — listening, speaking, reading and writing. Vocabulary is critical to a child's success for these reasons: Vocabulary growth is directly related to school achievement. The size of a child's vocabulary in kindergarten predicts the ability to learn to read. Children grow their vocabulary through reading, speaking and listening-

DISMISSAL
Please make sure to update with changes to dismissal to the front office (281-641-2500) prior to 2:45. Also do not park in the front parking lot and walk up to the car rider dismissal to get your child. You will be sent to the front office and it can be challenging to pull your child from their dismissal area to come to the front office. If you don't like the car line consider making your child a BIG TREE WALKER and we will walk them across the street to you!
