April's Seven Sacred Teaching: TRUTH

The Turtle Teaches us Truth

To know truth is to know and understand all of the original laws as given by the Creator- and to remain faithful to them.

It is said that in the beginning, when the Creator made man and gave him the seven sacred laws, the Grandmother Turtle was present to ensure that the laws would never be lost or forgotten. On the back of a Turtle are the 13 moons, each representing the truth of one cycle of the Earth's rotations around the sun. The shell of the Turtle represents real events as created by the Higher Power, and serves as a reminder of the Creator's will and teachings.

Indigenous Peoples Atlas of Canada @ OLA This Week!

This resource assists us in understanding the past, present and future of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. There is a wealth of information and diversity of stories and voices on this map; however, we recognize that no resource will ever be able to encompass all Indigenous voices and stories.

The Royal Canadian Geographical Society (RCGS) also recognizes that the stories told here are not ours to tell. It is for this reason that the RCGS have worked collaboratively with a number of Indigenous and ally educators and organizations from across Canada to create this resource.

Alberta Education Assurance Surveys

You are invited to share your voice with Alberta Education through their annual survey. This year's process is slightly different than the past Accountability Pillar Surveys. Parents will be mailed a Random Access Code to use to complete the online survey (in the past you've received hard copies of the Accountability Survey). The data collected is used in building EICS and OLA's vision and goals for the future.

Alberta Education Assurance Surveys are now open. In the mail you will receive survey packages from Alberta Education. Included in each package will be a letter containing a Random Access Code for accessing and completing the survey online. This year's survey include questions relating to learning modes and questions about pandemic impacts.

Thank you for taking the time to complete the Alberta Education Assurance Surveys.
