South Lebanon Elementary
November 2021
Notes & News From the Principal's Office
I am also happy to report that our SOAR program has continued to develop and grow this year. Our students are making great strides toward filling their SOAR punch cards and receiving Wings of Praise recognition. For every card filled, students' names are put into a drawing for a monthly, and quarterly prize. We are proud of our students' accomplishments and look forward to providing opportunities for our students to grow as leaders and positive role models.
In closing, please remember that we will try to get students outside as much as possible. With the fall weather setting in, we ask that you remind your students to dress for the weather and make sure that they have jackets for the cool fall days. It is also a good idea to label your child's jackets with their names on the tag so that these items can be returned if left outside on a warm afternoon. Thank you all for your continued support and cooperation as we progress through the 2021-2022 school year.

Instrumental Music Program
Attention Parents of 3rd Graders!
Did you know that there is a very high correlation between positive self-esteem, high test scores, total interest in school involvement, and the study of music? We would like to introduce you to the opportunities available to your child in the Cornwall-Lebanon Instrumental Music Program. We offer lessons in violin, viola, cello, string bass, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, tuba, and orchestra bells.
Students are introduced to the string and band instruments in the spring of 3rd grade. The majority of students in the band program begin studying their instruments in the summer following 3rd grade (for more information, please contact Mr. Thompson). String lessons begin in September of 4th grade.
Studies have shown that music participants receive more academic awards and earn higher grades than students who do not participate in music!
If you have any questions before your child receives information about these programs, please feel free to contact us.
Thank you!
Dr. Campbell, Orchestra Director
Mr. Thompson, Band Director
South Lebanon PTP Happenings
Wow! Late fall is such a busy time for our South Lebanon PTP. Our volunteers are busy helping with vision screening, height and weight checks, the Fall Food Drive, planning the teachers’ conference dinner, and the Santa Shop. Below you’ll find updates on PTP events.
Race for Education
This year’s RACE was awesome! A great time was had by both students and staff! Thank you so much to all the volunteers that made this fundraiser and fun day possible! We are about $2,500.00 shy of our goal of $15,000. It’s not too late to donate! The link to donate is below.
Donate to the Race for Education
Fall Food Drive
The fall food drive is happening now. Please help by donating Thanksgiving or general non-perishable food items or gift cards. Cash donations are also welcome. These items can be sent to school with students. All donations benefit families right here in our South Lebanon Elementary community. Donations will be accepted until Monday, November 15th.
Conference Dinner
Each year, PTP volunteers donate dishes for a meal for the teachers during their long night of parent-teacher conferences. This will take place Monday, November 22. If you are interested in donating a dish, please sign-up using the Signup Genius link provided.
Santa's Workshop
The 2021 Santa Workshop will be Wednesday, December 1, Thursday, December 2 and Friday, December 3rd. Volunteers are needed for set up and shopping days. Set up for the Shop will be the Friday before Thanksgiving break, November 19th from 4-6pm. For the sale days (Dec. 1-3): You can choose a morning or afternoon shift or all day. The morning shift is 9-12:30pm and the afternoon shift is 12-3:30pm. All Day would be 9-3:30. At this time, we do NOT have the class shopping schedule so we cannot tell you when your child will shop. The class shopping schedule will be sent home with students before Thanksgiving break. It takes many volunteers to help the kids shop and keep the classes on schedule, so feel free to volunteer for as much time as you can. If you are interested in helping email Angie Bensing at:
kabensing@verizon.net. Thank you for volunteering! The kids really enjoy shopping for their families.
PTP Meeting
The next PTP meeting is Wednesday, November 10th at 6:30 in the library. Childcare will be provided by our high school volunteers. See you there!
If you have any questions, please email the PTP at ptp.southlebanon@gmail.com.
