Early life

Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany on December 17, 1770. Beethoven's childhood was miserable. He was one of seven children, but one of the three who had survived. His mother, Maria, was very nice and loving. But his father, Johann, was an alcoholic and very demanding. Johann used Ludwig's musical talents as a source of income. When Beethoven was seven he moved to Vienna and played the piano for Mozart. Mozart told Ludwig that he would do great things in the world.

Then in 1792 Beethoven moved to Vienna after his father died. While he was in Vienna he helped raise money for Johann Sebastian Bach's only surviving child. Symphony No. 5

This is a video of Beethoven's Symphony No. 5. This is his most popular symphony that we still listen to today. It is an orchestra so the instruments in the piece are woodwinds, brass, percussion, and strings. The reoccurring beets are " duh-duh-duh-duuhh-duh-duh-duh-duuuh" and it keeps going like that and it is very catchy.

Other known music

Beethoven decided to publish a series of three piano trios as his "Opus 1," which made him a lot of money. Another piece he debuted on April 2, 1800, was Symphony No. 1 in C major at the Royal Imperial Theater in Vienna. Then in 1801 his published his "six string quartets". Beethoven also wrote 9 synphonys, and in only his third symphony he had singers.

Beethoven's legacy

Beethoven was an innovator, created new ideas of sonata, symphony, concerto and quartet, and used vocals and instruments in a way no one else has. As Beethoven furthered into his music career his hearing became worse and worse, where it got to a point that he couldn't hear. He was very grouchy and mean. But, he still composed music. He heard the music by the vibrations they made. Sadly, Beethoven died on March 26, 1827, but we still know and listen to his music.
