Principal's Corner
Dear Lake Forest High School,
This week has been one filled with music and more–from Orchestra and Choir concerts, to play rehearsals, to state (SEE TOP PICTURE!) and regional championships, the world in which our Scouts engage outside of the classroom is one in which we should all be proud. There are so many gifts in so many ways that our students bring to our community–I find myself unable to find all the minutes to see them in action!
As you may have heard or read, our recent School Report Card sees LFHS return to its Exemplary status. Much of what makes us exceptional is simply that this community is full of exceptionally hardworking and dedicated people––our staff, faculty, parents, and most importantly, our students. I and our team are also keenly aware that from our data there is still learning and leading opportunities to unpack; the effects of three challenging years to qualify and quantify; and for many of our students, still so much they are still navigating emotionally, mentally, and physically, we are and will remain steadfastly committed to collaboration and solution-oriented action plans. I am certain that our Exemplary school will continue to improve.
On Monday, we had students at Lake Forest High School who were celebrating Diwali–the Festival of Lights. Last year, I remember a Band concert where Niki Singh performed an original composition. It was spellbinding, and it was so beautiful seeing and hearing one of our Scouts give so much of herself to our school and community. This year, she hosted another event-details are below! When I think about students like Niki, I am reminded of our mission statement–To inspire the passion to learn, the insight to know oneself, and the courage to make a difference. What an awesome, difference-making experience she is making for our Scout community.
Much love Scouts community,
Erin

Students at October 11th Board Meeting
On October 11, 2022, seniors Elsa Dahlgren, Brume Ogufere, and MG King spoke to the D115 school board about their experiences and perceptions of LFHS English classes, specifically about their growth from freshman to senior year. We appreciate their time, effort, and poise in offering the student perspective of the values and work of LFHS English teachers!

In honor of Diwali, senior Niki Singh President of the LFHS Religious Diversity Club, hosted a special hands-on club meeting after school on Diwali itself (Monday, 10/24). Niki did an amazing job explaining what this holiday meant. The feedback from the club-sponsoring teacher (Mr. Gigiano) and other high school kids was truly heartwarming to hear. Thank you Niki.
