Concepts of Motion
Weightlessness
definition - You do not feel weight. Example: Astronauts feel weightlessness because in space there is not a lot of gravity.
Newton's first Law of motion
definition- An object will stay in the same spot until something moves it and an object moving will keep moving until something stops it. PICTURE- The block moving is moving because it wants to stay in the same spot but when it stoppedthe block was moving at the same speed as the cart
Newton's second Law of Motion
definition- An object needs mass and the amount of force put in it to accelerate. PICTURE- When you roll a bowling ball it needs mass and the amount of force put into it to roll faster and knock down pins.
Newton's Third Law of Motion
definition- For every action there is a reaction. PICTURE- The air coming out of the balloon is the action force and the balloon going up is the reaction force.
Momentum
definition- a combination of mass and speed. PICTURE- The roller coaster needs to be heavy and fast because if it isn't then the rollercoaster will get stuck on a loop.
Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation
definition- Every partical in the universe exerts gravitational pull. PICTURE- The arrows represent the gravitational pull of the Earth.
