Dolphin Digest
Naval Avenue Elementary
May 2023
Dear Families,
Happy May! I can't believe we are down to the last 34 days of the school year! Here are some upcoming changes to end the year strong.
Pods:
A sense of belonging is critical for our students and we have created three pods within our one school for a strong PK-5 connection. These pods have been named after dolphins: Clymene, Irrawaddy, or Tucuxi. Every student and staff member belongs to one of the pods. Pods will be a way to have team and school spirit and build additional community across our PK-5 school.
Recess:
We are also excited to have new games and activities to introduce on our playground. We have something for everyone from chalk and drawing to new balls and games.
To best introduce our new equipment, students will rotate through our three recess zones to learn the rules and expectations of each unique area. Recess will still be grouped as before yet the rotations will happen in the smaller pods to allow for practice and access as we are learning.
We are committed to safety and belonging for all of our students.
With Warm Regard,
Kimberly Powell
