STATE WINNING FLORICULTURE TEAM
Congratulations to Ashley Burruel, Emily Smith, Eleda Castro, and Elery Martin, the State Winning Floriculture team! They will represent Arizona in the National Floriculture Career Development Event in October located in Indianapolis, Indiana.
This is an extremely difficult contest to win. Students had to take an online test, create a triangle floral arrangement, corsage, a floral display, problem solve greenhouse production scenarios, identify plant diseases and insects, memorize 150 plants and tools by common and botanical names, and learn how to respond to customer complaints.

CHS/KNOX GIFTED ACADEMY PARTNERSHIP
Participants in the CHS/KGA ACE (Accelerated Curricular Experience) Program showcased their hard work to parents last week. Thanks to Dr. Mary Ploense, Ms. Jennifer Knoll and Mrs. Kirticia Garrett for sharing their chemistry, art, and engineering expertise with the 30 elementary students. Several CHS IB students were also involved in this terrific program.
CULINARY STUDENTS SHARE HOSPITALITY
CHS Culinary students were honored to be asked by the City of Chandler to prepare and serve a Christmas Dinner to area senior citizens once again this year. The seniors enjoyed their handmade Christmas cards, the meal, dessert and of course the Chandler High student hospitality!
CHS WINTER SHOWCASE
CHS Theatre I, Theatre III, and APAC performed their Winter Showcase last week to a packed Bogle Theatre. Theatre I and II Students presented Reader’s Theatre and Monologues. APAC presented their Arizona State Thespian Festival Pieces, all of which received Superior or Excellent ratings.

STATE CHAMPION WOLVES TO PLAY IN GEICO HIGH SCHOOL BOWL SERIES
The Chandler Wolves have been invited to go to Dallas, Texas to play in the GEICO High School Bowl Series on December 23rd. They are one of four teams to participate in this prestigious high school event. For more details, visit the Geico Bowl Series website. Go Wolves!
CHANDLER SCHOOL BOOSTERS’ ALL IN 5K/1 MILE EVENT
Join us on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 9am for the 2nd Annual Chandler Schools ALL IN! 5K/1mile run, a fully supported run at Perry High School (Queen Creek/Val Vista). 15 DAYS TO FINAL EXAM SUCCESS
Final exams are coming on December 21st and 22nd! Teachers will be giving students review info in class and as homework over the next couple of weeks. In addition to that regular classwork, if students follow the attached tips and dedicate 10 minutes to each tip, per class, per day, they are bound to set themselves up for success! FILED YOUR FAFSA YET?
Seniors: Have you filed FAFSA yet? Remember that ASU’s priority deadline for FAFSA is January 1. Students should have a completed FAFSA and application on file by January 1st to be considered for the very generous Obama Scholars Program. See Dr. Bonillas in the College and Career Center or your counselor if you have questions or need help!
ACOUSTIC GUITARS NEEDED
CHS is debuting Beginning Guitar next semester and currently has a small inventory of guitars available for students. If you have an acoustic guitar you are willing to donate to CHS, please contact Mr. Steve Quintana, Assistant Director of Bands, at quintana.steven@cusd80.com or drop the guitar off in the front office. All donations are greatly appreciated!
CHS TARDY POLICY
Beginning in January, students who hit their 4th tardy for first hour will be swept into the cafeteria and held through the hour. Parents who need to excuse their child’s tardy will need to park and come into the attendance office to sign in. Excuses over the phone will not be taken. If the tardy is excused, students will be given a pass to attend 1st hour. Students who are kept in sweeps are responsible for getting the work they missed during Tuesday/Thursday tutoring.
Consequences for all tardies (not exclusive to 1st hour):
· 0-3 Tardy= No Disciplinary action
· 4-6 Tardy= 5 Days of Lunch Detention
· 7-10 Tardy= 10 Days of Lunch Detention
· 10+= Multiple Days of Community Service

CHS ACCEPTING TAX CREDIT DONATIONS
Arizona law ARS 43-1089.01 enables taxpayers a tax credit contribution of up to $400.00 per calendar year if filing status is Married, filing Joint Return; $200.00 per calendar year if filing status is Single or Head of Household; and, $200.00 per calendar year if filing status is Married filing separate return — for contributions that fund extracurricular activities in public schools.
Contributions eligible for a tax credit are donated directly to schools, not to the state or the school district. To participate you can print a form to complete and submit your contribution.
