Department News: Social Studies

Mr. Whelan

World History students have started looking at World War II and dictators across Europe. The class went on an information scavenger hunt to learn about Mussolini and Fascism in Italy. American History students are learning about the American homefront during World War II in which they are also doing an information scavenger hunt that helps give an overview of the war.

Mr. McConihe

Government and Economics classes are preparing for a mock trial. Two adversarial lawyer teams will consider facts of a criminal case. Students will serve as witnesses, and will testify in court. A jury will render a verdict, as students will learn about the trial process.

American History classes are making newsreels on screencastify regarding how World War II impacted the U.S. home front for groups like G.I.'s, Women, African-Americans, Mexican Americans and Jewish Americans.
