Cougar Connection
December 2020
From Principal Lawrence
Hi Shea Feeder Families -
Before you get too consumed with all your holiday plans, I'd like to remind you there is still an opportunity to register your child for electives at Shea. Please see the newsletter linked below for more information and click on the registration link to signify your preferences for electives for the 2021-2022 school year. This is the best way to ensure your child gets the electives that you and your child desire.
I wish you and your families a safe and happy holiday season!

Free Resources for Families
We are in a pandemic. In addition to challenges with relationships, illnesses and added stress, many of us are struggling with food, jobs and housing. In some way, we have all been affected. No one wants to be in this position, and it is common to struggle with asking for help. Resources have become available to provide some needed relief, but often one thing stands in the way...letting someone know we can use a little help. If this resonates with you, know you are not alone in needing some support in this season. There is no shame in this- we are in this together, and many of us are struggling. Below are some resources that might be helpful.

A win-win for your student and our school!
Enrolling in the Free and Reduced Program is important for students and our school! This school year, as all students are receiving free breakfast and lunch, it is important that you know Desert Cove receives funding based on the number of students enrolled in the program. Funding is critical these days, and is used to provide needed services to our students. We need your help with this! Students qualify for the program based on family income at the time of the application. We can’t emphasize enough the importance of having our families submit an application. If you are not sure if you qualify, when you submit the application, District will let you know! ...and just a heads up that you are able to submit a new application any time your financial situation changes.
Click here for the easy, on-line application. Paper applications are also available in the office.
