Message from the Principal

Hello Prairie Friends & Families,

Wow! Thank you all so much for showing our staff how much you appreciate them this week. They felt the love! We greatly appreciate your ongoing support and partnership.

This week we will MAP test for the last time this year. In the School District of Waukesha, we take the MAP test three times a year (fall, winter, spring). Our K-1 learners take the math portion of this assessment. Our 2-5 learners take the math and reading portion of this assessment. We use this data as another source of information to tell us how our learners are doing and to inform our instruction. We always strive to ensure that our learners feel comfortable and confident when approaching standardized assessments so they can do their best to show us what they know.

We had the opportunity to host our SDW Cabinet at Prairie this week. Our Superintendent, Dr. Sebert, visited classrooms with all of his Assistant Superintendents. They were so impressed with the level of engagement throughout our school. They also commented on the positive energy from students and staff and on our strong academic culture. It was an awesome opportunity to show our district leaders all of the amazing work that happens every single day at Prairie.

Our kindergarten learners have been working hard on their job inquiry projects. Today they dressed in the attire for the jobs they hope to have one day! They also presented their learning to their classmates. Take a look below at the pictures below! Waukesha will be in great hands when these little ones enter the job force!

We are Team Prairie!

We are stronger together!

Carly Solberg

GOT SNEAKERS FUNDRAISER: Thank you to all of those who have already donated shoes to our fundraiser. As spring cleaning is starting up remember this is an ongoing fundraiser so keep searching for shoes! Did you know that your gently worn sneakers could help Prairie PTA? Prairie PTA is participating in a fundraiser where you donate your shoes. All we need is your support and your gently worn, used ,or new sneakers! Here’s how you can help. Start in your and your family’s closets and gather as many pairs of sneakers that you no longer want; maybe you’ve out-grown them, they’re out of style, or out of season. If you and your household have 20 pairs, great! If not, don’t worry. You can ask your neighbors, friends, co-workers, and anyone in your social networks to help out. Every pair counts! The sneakers that we all collect will help raise money to support Prairie PTA AND will help our environment by keeping sneakers out of landfills.

All you have to do is send your children to school with your sneakers or drop them off at school. Please no boots or dress shoes or sandals. Every pair that is donated earns up to $7 per pair.

Early Pick Up for Students

If you need to pick up your student early for any reason or for appointments during the day, please come in to the lobby and buzz the office. We will call your child down at that point and sign them out from the office. It is helpful to email the teacher and Mrs. Anderson of expected times so we can try to have them ready to leave.

Dropping off Supplies

We have a new procedure in place if you need to drop off student materials during the day (lunch, homework, jackets, iPads, etc). The outside door to the lobby of the school is open. There are "drop off tickets" on the table inside the door. Please complete your child's name, grade/teacher, and the item being delivered with any special instructions. We will deliver it to the classroom just as soon as we can. Thank you for your support.
