Principal's Message
Good afternoon Canby High School Students and Families!
It is Graduation Week! This past week has been full of end of the year activities and celebrations honoring our seniors. The Band, Dance, and Cheerleading teams marched in the Starlight Parade. We had powder puff, macho volleyball, and dodgeball tournaments. We had a final assembly, yearbooks were released, and the multi-sport athlete awards honored our student-athletes. See pictures below of our powder puff seniors, starlight parade marchers, and well-rounded athletes.
Today was the Senior Awards Assembly where we highlighted the accomplishments of our Amazing Class of 2023. It is one of my favorite events because all of the hard work of our students comes to fruition, and we celebrate their next steps. This year, we have eight students who earned a 4.0 cumulative grade point average during their high school career: Kaitlyn Doman, Davis Hagen, Allison Mead, Peter Sansone, Jenna Schmidt, Marissa VanHoose, Silas Wood, and Zachery Woodruff (pictured below). Congratulations to these talented students as well as our students who earned an Honors diploma, listed below. We are looking forward to graduation tomorrow night. Please see more information on graduation logistics in this newsletter.
Looking forward, next week is Final Exams for our freshmen - juniors. Here is a link to the Final Exam Schedule. Please note, we do not send passes unless there is an emergency during final exams. While some students finish early with their finals, we strive to minimize all interruptions to final exams for all students so they can show their best work.
Have a wonderful week!
Best,
Cari Sloan

Schedules:
We have all of our athletics schedule all in one place on our master athletic schedule. This includes game times, locations, and bus departure times. It is updated real-time by your athletic department. Go to this link to see the current schedule, which is subject to change with little notice.
Attendance at CHS
To ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our attendance process, please remember the following guidelines:
If your student needs to leave class for an appointment or because they are sick, inform the attendance office 30 MINUTES PRIOR to leave time. This will help us ensure that your student receives a note to leave class in a timely manner. Students will not be excused without a note.
Pre-Excused Absence: For any anticipated absence that will be more than three days, students are expected to pick up a Pre-Excused Absence Form from Jessie Munoz at the Attendance Office.
To report an absence, call Jessie Munoz at our attendance line at 503-263-7210 or email chs-attendance@canby.k12.or.us.
Students have 48 hours to have unexcused absences excused. Students may lose the opportunity to make up work for credit due to unexcused absences. Please report an absence as soon as possible.
Remember that attendance matters and students who attend class regularly are more likely to stay on track, graduate on time, learn deeply, and get the most from their high school experience.
Information for Seniors
Don’t forget to order your final transcripts! Go to this link for detailed instructions on how to do this.
For Seniors and Families - GRADUATION IS ALMOST HERE!
Handicapped seating is different this year.
There will be designated handicapped seating on the Stadium Field.
There is limited handicapped parking in front of the Stadium Gym.
For your convenience, we have rented 4 golf carts to shuttle handicapped, elderly and, in general, families who have parked farther away from CHS. They can get rides to and from graduation (before the ceremony and about 30 minutes at the conclusion of the ceremony).
