The rally was followed by the annual PowderPuff game versus Stoughton. Canton lost a nail-biter, but what a game! Well done to all involved.
CPS Family Survey
Below is a message from Interim Superintendent Folan and Interim Assistant Superintendent Shannon. This was previously emailed to families directly.
Dear Canton Families,
We hope you are doing well as we enter the winter season and the middle months of the school year. We are making great progress as a District, and we are continually acknowledging and adapting to the challenges and transitions sparked by last year. On behalf of CPS, we are so pleased with -- and proud of -- the incredible work of our students, educators and staff, our administration, and our families.
And….We would love to hear from you! Your feedback is appreciated.
As part of our District Goals and Action Steps, we have a commitment to two-way communication. We push out a great deal of information, and we want to ensure there are opportunities for you to share your perspectives and voice as well. The Community Forums have been outstanding, and today we are pleased to share the Canton Public Schools Family Survey.
We would ask that you take a moment to complete the survey. Your feedback provides great insight into our District’s strengths, your child’s experiences, areas for improvement, and hopes and vision for the future. Much like last year, the survey is constructed around the Conditions for Learning, and a desire to ensure excellence at every level, in every category.
Here is the link for the survey:
December 2021 Canton Public Schools Family Survey
The survey will stay open until Thursday, December 16 at 4 p.m.
To allow us to record an accurate representation of survey results, we are asking you to please fill out this survey ONCE FOR EACH OF YOUR CHILDREN.
Results of the survey will be summarized and shared publicly via School Committee meetings. Please do not include any identifiable information in your comments.
We know it is a busy time of year, so we really appreciate your time and effort in completing the survey. As always, we value your partnership and support to provide the best learning experience for your children.
Sincerely,
Derek Folan
Interim Superintendent
Sarah Shannon
Interim Assistant Superintendent
Handbook Highlights- Directed Study and Self-Directed Study
Many of our students have a study period within their schedule. This time can be useful for catching up on school, checking with a teacher or counselor, or take care of other school-related matters. However, we want to remind all students that unless you are a senior with a self-directed study, you are required to be present and accounted in your assigned room. If you wish to see another staff member during that time it is your responsibility to arrive to your assigned study with a pass from that receiving teacher. See below for the Handbook language:
DIRECTED/SELF-DIRECTED STUDY
All students are assigned a study during unassigned class periods. Students in grades 9-11 may remain in their study or get a pass in advance from a teacher to get support or make up work. Students may also be eligible to get a pass to the library, Counseling Office, or Career Center in advance of study when permitted by administration. All seniors who meet the academic, behavioral, and attendance guidelines are eligible for self-directed study, which provides seniors the independence to choose where they would like to spend their unassigned blocks within the school building without being assigned a specific directed study. These areas include the library, cafeteria, guidance, career center, common areas designated by the administration, or with a teacher.
