REVEAL MATH ISSUES

We are experiencing issues with course expiration and end dates in the Reveal platform. The error stems from how our system communicates with McGraw-Hill's system. Kingswood is working on a fix for this. Please stay tuned.

M-H will soon be providing a tech support person dedicated to CCS. We will also be given a phone number and email address to contact for support. We will provide that information as soon as we receive it.

REVEAL TIP

When having students complete assignments in Reveal, make sure you record grades in IC as soon as possible, especially if schedule changes are likely. Here's an example:

Your school rearranges schedules. One section of math is to be deleted and a new one is going to be created at a different period of the day.

When the course gets deleted, the data in it is lost. You will not be able to retrieve the students' work. This is why you want to mark items in Infinite Campus.

PD DAY: OCTOBER 16

Watch for a list of several different sessions we plan to provide on PD day October 16. McGraw-Hill has broken the PD offerings down into short sessions to provide you with more options when deciding what sessions you would like to attend.

IREADY

IReady was not purchased by the secondary curriculum department. The program is used for instruction in elementary math but only for benchmark assessments at the middle school level. Please direct questions on the IReady platform to the Testing Office.

BRAININGCAMP APP: FREE OPPORTUNITY

We have received a license code for Brainingcamp applications that runs through the end of November.

See what Brainingcamp has to offer at their website at the link below:

https://app.brainingcamp.com/

This program can be great for virtual/hybrid learning. We may be able to purchase some licenses for interested schools.

If interested, please contact Steve for a redemption code.

CCS ALEKS GUIDE

The CCS ALEKS Guide contains CCS-specific information on ALEKS and is updated often. Learn how to move students into new classes, create student groups, share access to students with another teacher, and much more. The guide can be accessed at the link below and also in the digital binder.

https://tinyurl.com/CCS-ALEKS-GUIDE

IMPORTANT: UNUSED ALEKS SUBCRIPTIONS

If you plan to use ALEKS for your classes but have not yet started, please do so by Friday, October 9. At least have students log in. Any pre-registered account that has not been used will be returned to ALEKS. This will free up licenses that can be used moving forward.

What if we remove a student who then shows up in class?

No harm done. The student will simply need to be manually enrolled.

Please remember that with a limited number of licenses, students cannot be enrolled in more than one ALEKS course at a time.

TEACHER EDITIONS

Teacher Editions for Volume I middle school books and Algebra 1 and 2 have been sent to schools. We had a very limited number and tried to distribute them as equally as possible. Volume 2 books will be sent at a later date. Each school offering Precalculus and Financial Literacy Math should have received one hardback teacher edition of each. We may be receiving additional TEs for Financial Literacy Math. We are also in the process of swapping out the incorrect students editions.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE GET NEW STUDENTS?

In ALEKS:

Ask the student: Have you been working in ALEKS in another CCS school this year? Previous years do not matter. If yes, then the curriculum office needs to move the student to your class. The student can continue to work while the move is pending.

If the student answers no, then you can enroll that student yourself. Even if another account was created for that student, if that account was never logged into, we can retrieve that license. Please note that students enrolled in the Digital Academy at the beginning of the year have not had accounts created for them yet.

To enroll new students into your class, please see page 4 in the CCS ALEKS Guide.

In REVEAL/ConnectED:

Students are automatically loaded into Reveal and ConnectED accounts (the textbooks) according to their schedule in Infinite Campus. This can take 24-48 hours. Schedules must be entered correctly in Infinite Campus.

Students never need a login code, redemption code, usernames, or passwords for Reveal Math. Instead, they log into Clever and click the McGraw-Hill button. Remember, they may need to select their school from a drop down menu.

For Number Worlds:

Teachers will enter student rosters themselves. In this case, a code is asked for. For any middle school special education teacher still interested in Number Worlds, please contact the curriculum office.

CLASS/BOOK NAMES IN REVEAL

Please consider renaming your classes in Reveal if you have not done so. When requesting support from McGraw-Hill, if all of your classes read "Math 6", tech support will have no idea which one is having issues if we contact them for help. Below are the instructions on how to rename a course.

DEPARTMENT CHAIR MEETINGS

Middle and High School Department chair meetings will be held on the dates below. The plan is to use Zoom at this time.

Note: K-6 buildings are permitted to have a department chair for the Math 6 portion of the building if desired. Buildings offering grades 6-12 or 7-12 can have a department chair at the middle and high school level. At this time, we have not received names from all qualifying schools.

Meeting Dates:

Meetings run from 3:30pm to 5:30pm.
