Mrs. Cerros's 4th grade class
September 2018
Land Forms Project
Reminder that our first social studies project is due this Friday. I can't wait to see what creative ideas everyone has come up with for their edible land forms. Each project needs to show at least 3 land forms and have each land form labeled. This project will be a social studies grade in the grade book.
Reading Logs
I have sent home a reading log for students to keep track of the number of minutes they read each evening. The goal is 400 minutes per month which comes down to 20 minutes per weekday evening. Of course, students may read more than the goal that is set. For each 100 minutes read, students will add a bead to a necklace that is here in the classroom on display. This necklace will be theirs to keep at the end of the year. Also, they will receive a Book It coupon from Pizza Hut. Reading logs will be turned in at the end of each month.
AR points and color dots
I have given each student their AR point goals for this quarter. They are written in their student planner on their birthday. I have also included their color dot range. These points and color dots are based on 4th grade data from their latest STAR test. The first quarter will end on October 12th. There will be an all school award (to be announced) for those who make their AR goal. For my class only, I will give an extra recess for students who make their AR goal for the quarter.
Picture day
Picture day is this Friday! Come ready with a smile. This is the picture for the yearbook.
All About Me poster
We've had some posters turned in already. I will use these posters to showcase the Star Student for each week. After your child has been Star Student, they will take their poster home.
Spelling test announcement
We will not have a spelling test this Friday. Due to it being a short week and having MAP testing, we will extend this week's list into next week and test on Friday, September 14th instead.
