TCPS Book Swap
Trillium Creek’s Book Swap is coming soon!
We are excited to announce that the library will be hosting our 3rd annual Book Swap for students on May 28th and 29th. If your family is ready to part with any books, we will happily collect those books from you to place in our Book Swap. We ask that books be in good condition, and appropriate for grade levels K – 5. Each student will have an opportunity to browse and select a book to take home on their teacher's assigned day. Book Swap collection boxes are set up in the library (near the circulation desk) and students may place books in the boxes before or after school - starting now until May 24th. We are grateful for your donations to kick off a fun summer of reading!

Classroom Placement
Dear Trillium Families and Friends,
Later this month, we begin making classroom placements for next school year. We give this complex process a great deal of time and thought to ensure every child is placed with a community that allows them to thrive. Our goal is to create balanced classroom communities with a range of student strengths and talents. Soon, classroom teachers, specialists and I will work together during several meetings to create balanced classrooms for next year. Creating equitable learning communities to foster strong relationships and appropriate levels of challenge is our goal, which we do with much consideration and thought.
As a parent you may wish to share more information to assist us in this process. If this is the case, you are free to pick up a parent input form in office. Please return these forms to the office no later than May 20th. Forms containing sensitive information should be addressed to me.
Please do not request the name of a specific teacher. Due to the complexity of the placement process and the sheer amount of varied requests we receive, we cannot accommodate these types of requests.
Please know your child's current teacher(s) will be intimately involved in the placement process. Our teachers will act in the best interest of your child to make a solid placement. You may simply rely on his or her judgement without the need to write a letter.
Placement is an exciting opportunity to think about the possibilities of next year and we do our utmost to create classroom communities that honor and support the learning of each child. We are extremely fortunate to have such an outstanding group of educators in each grade level; helping children grow, develop and thrive.
Best wishes,
Jim Mangan

SAFETY SPOTLIGHT — Reducing Herbicide Use in WLWV
If you've been out to the Athey Creek Middle School soccer fields recently, you might have noticed a new addition to the fence lines that surround the school's property.
The black covering that can be seen along the base of District fencing is actually a specially-designed fence guard that prevents the growth of pesky weeds that can lead to dangerous pests. The new environmental safety feature is just one example of the District’s efforts to reduce the use of herbicides across school grounds. Read more about those efforts on the district website: https://www.wlwv.k12.or.us/Page/15322
