River of Kindness - Ubuntu!
This year, we are focusing on being kind to one another in everything we say and do. Take a moment to talk to your student about what it means to be kind, how our kind words and acts affect others and the idea of filling another's emotional well-being bucket.
Each day, we greet one another with the mindset of "Ubuntu", a philosophy that Nelson Mandela fostered in his later years. Mandela was a leader that strived to make the world a better place. He wanted others to see that their words and actions affect others in every situation. Mandela shared the idea and philosophy of Ubuntu - " I am what I am because of who we all are" or "I am with you and you are with me". In other words, we all affect one another. The spreading of kindness fosters a community of support and love.
Our River of Kindness is a visual representation of a message of kindness as we enter school every day.
