Wren Elementary ---September 21, 2015
The students have done a great job with our assessment schedule. I will complete the PALS this week and we will return to our group rotations next week. On Friday, we had a fun visit from The Cat in the Hat. This visit was to encourage students to participate in the 8-week reading challenge. The information is coming home tomorrow. I encourage you to complete the form and participate in this activity with your child. Reading with your child is one of the most important things you can do to help your child's academic success! Please complete and return the forms by October 5.
Important Information
- Captain of the Week is Warren. Way to go, Warren!
- Thank you for ordering Scholastic books for your child. The books should arrive by next week. We were able to get some new items for our classroom. Thanks so much for your generosity!
- Mrs. Galloway (Speech/Language Pathologist) will be visiting our classroom soon and observing students. Based on her observations, and mine, we may be contacting you regarding speech intervention groups for your child.
- Beginning this week, students will be bringing home daily journal pages. These are our daily drawings in which students dictate to us about their drawing. While these may look like "scribbles" or simple drawings to you, they provide me with helpful information regarding your child's literacy development. I will be saving samples throughout the year and I will discuss these along with PALS at our parent conference this fall.
- Monday, September 28, is a Professional Development day for teachers and a student holiday. No school on this day!
